Return to Office 5 Days a Week Soon - Management Don’t Care for Your Well-Being No More

Chatter around office from new people who were recently hired that they were asked to come into office 5x per week from Day 1. Moreover, they were asked to do this as a comms will be announced soon by higher ups for all staff to abide by this RTO mandate. Sorry folks, looks like management doesn’t care about the hybrid or remote model that was working anymore and keeping its staff happy for a better work-life balance, so long as they get their big bonuses and keep the company stock trailing higher for shareholders and execs. Probably copying other megacap companies and the US gov now doing the same too. Those who don’t like it will likely be forced to resign or eventually look elsewhere. Butts in seat monitoring all by middle managers so they can look important - nevermind your work life balance and welfare despite the underlings being overworked and meeting client needs. But hey, it’s for collaboration, culture, and engagement right?! Look elsewhere before this mandate vs taking the layoff. If you’re new to CGI, still look elsewhere as they underpay vs other competitors and industry. Since a lot places ending WFH-Hybrid, why put up with this place if you can elsewhere for better perks and pay? If you on the bench, seriously look elsewhere too. Don’t wait for the next engagement as management really doesn’t like people on the bench long - find a better workplace with stability vs client engagement to engagement work. Honestly, it’s not worth it and the worry when client work dries up and you have to explain it to your manager.

Yeah, I currently have a remote exemption, but I know everyone else has to work in the office 2 days a week. Only managers / directors need to be in the office 5 days a week.

Manager level folks have been asked to come into office 5 days a week recently where I am based at. The grapevine is apparently all staff levels are expected to go into office full time starting August or right after it. A lot of people at my location, managers included, aren’t very happy with this change. They originally had it where going into office for this new year was a learning objective in Progressio; For non manager roles, they are expected to go in 2-3 times a week. If they are not on an engagement, they are expected to go in 5 days a week though. They are tracking card swipes to ensure people abide by this rule or they will reprimand you - very childish like ruling. I think they trying to coerce this change as some staff never respected the original hybrid requirements. They recently released their Voice of Staff survey for employees to fill out though. A section in there is tied to Employee Empowerment feedback. Hilarious, given the new mandate they want to implement from top to bottom with no say. I’ll be very surprised if they do acknowledge feedback from staff levels about this old school return to office mandate. I imagine leadership just copying Big Banks, Facebook, Tesla, etc. now to keep with the trend and get returns for office space they pay for monthly. Since CGI doesn’t pay as high compared to other places, if you’re asked to return to office or considering working here, go elsewhere that will at least pay you way more to be in office. I know teammates at my location already looking to bail given this news.

I’ve been an employee since early this year and haven’t had to come into the office 5 days/week - only 2 days as stated in my contract. My team is quite large and located all over the country, so even when I am in office, no one from my contract team is there.

Hi,
Thinking about applying for a hybrid position at CGI (published earlier in February).
Should I trust that it will remain hybrid, or is a 5 day/week mandate in place?
