The best thing I have seen lately is the fact that people are scheduling job interviews and having legit interviews at other companies while in the office.. To say there are no f's given is an understatement... People just want out...

I was part of last years layoffs (thank goodness) but I heard they just gave an expat another promotion and made him head of the entire marketing group with zero marketing experience. Can anyone corroborate this or any of the details?
The clowns on top have been looking at spreadsheets and numbers for too long, and have forgotten it was the dedicated employees who made Canon good in the past.
They stopped caring about us. We stopped caring about the company.
20% less headcount and expect the same numbers lol get out of here you clowns.
I think it’s laughable how these imbecile executives really think 2019 levels are attainable. Every month-end is treated with life-and-death urgency. If they fall one cent below expectations, they want a full-blown investigation and audit, and it’s assumed it’s the low-level employees’ fault. “Oh, you must have entered something wrong, oh you must of forgot something.” Uhhhh, no, you are operating in a dying industry and have done NOTHING over the last 15-20 years to prepare for this moment. The chickens are coming home to roost.
I am just burnt out. After the Layoffs in July and now the change from CSA to CUSA causing so much havoc and even more work. It was all rushed and left not only the employees but our customers scrambling. There were no instructions given for anything, so we're left to try fix issues we have no answers for. Billing and Invoicing is sc--wed. They aren't hiring because they are trying to save money but in the meantime the ship is filling up with water faster than the rest of us can scoop it out. We are miserable. HEAR US! We don't need more stress coming into the office more. I'm spending more time in traffic and more money on gas etc. Why ? WHY CANON??
The office environment has become increasingly bleak, making in-person work feel like a draining obligation rather than a productive experience. Morale is at an all-time low, and the lack of engagement is palpable—most people seem disengaged, if not actively seeking opportunities elsewhere. Every time I hear about someone resigning for a new role, I can’t help but feel envious. The thought of moving on to something better is the only thing keeping me motivated right now.
There is no way this company will continue to thrive with the way things are going.. The numbers aren't numbering, and the math ain't mathing, but let's continue to have meetings and show only the numbers that have improved and keep telling everyone how great things look.. Forget how you treat your employees, who for the most part work hard and stay in their lane. Instead, let's keep micromanaging them, have them work the alternate Thursday after a holiday on Monday, or the day after major holidays because in their minds, nobody has families, have them use a timesheet recording system that has everyone in mass panic because they don't know if they can clock in a minute or 2 early, did they click out or in by accident, now the system hourglasses because everyone is trying to record their time, let's give them more work without replacing someone that has left, better yet, have them sit thru meetings that aren't even relevant and completely unprofessional (the gas chamber /guest speaker was a fan favorite) have certain depts work certain hours (less) and get paid the same because their paycheck was "adjusted".. How much more can anyone take? How about you send out a survey asking who would like to take a severance package/early buyout or another early retirement?!
What are the symptoms of an employee death spiral?
- Routinely losing high value employees
- Routinely losing employee influencers
- Your employee turnover is at or above the industry average
High value employees make up the backbone of your economic engine. Their skills convert to revenues and profits. When you lose these employees the cost will be in lost revenues, profits and most importantly - opportunities. The marginal cost increases with each additional lost employee. This loss is difficult to recover without major changes.
Employee influencers are even more damaging. Many influencers are also high value employees. You are losing their skills and they are also affecting the other employees in the organization. You have seen this when other employees are clearly upset when a certain employee leaves. “I did not think that Employee X would ever leave”. At this point, the internal conversations within your greatest asset will be overwhelmingly negative. During these conversations, additional employees will decide to seriously look for another opportunity.
There is only one way out of a death spiral - identify the root causes of the turnover and make the significant changes necessary.
Sad. I decided to move on after seeing the kick off event and the lack of reality surrounding the current circumstances. I decided after 12 yrs to leave. I accepted a new job with a little more base pay and home office stipend. Mainly leaving due to a company leaving me and treating me as a disposable towel
I think it became clear on how much this company values their American workers by telling them to come in the office the day after Christmas when that should have been a WFH day. That was the biggest fu-k you if there ever was one! Especially when nobody was allowed to take off that day due to year end bullsh-t! To make it an even bigger fu-k you the people that came in on the 26th if they had time left where told they could use it and go BACK HOME. Like wtf kinda bullsh-t is that? This company and the so called management blows !
January numbers are atrocious. Way below budget. Yet, we will be told at the next town hall meeting that we’re kicking butt and taking names.
Here’s the problem. If you look around at the current VP’s of the company (that includes SVP’s and EVP’s too), who are we actually excited about? Who do we believe in? Who are we motivated by? Who has an actual plan for legitimate and believable growth? Who is actually deserving of their title vs just being given it for being an expat who has worked at Canon for many years?
Here’s the answer: NOBODY. There’s not a single VP or above that anyone in the company believes in. They’re either unqualified to be in the position or a person that has made a carrier in kissing the CEO’s a**.
This is the single biggest reason this company is a fast fast fast sinking ship. Until they realize this (hint: they won’t), nothing will get better. In fact it will continuously get worse.
Best advice (which I plan to follow): GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! Find that next job somewhere else. Otherwise you’ll be SOOL soon and will make it even harder to find a new job.
I have seen a change all the way up to the VP level. I feel that I work for a company where people have just given up. This is the result of Sammy simply mandating to cut costs. These cuts have force people to take on multiple roles. The people of this company are burnt out. They don’t care anymore. Sales people are not working hard because the opportunity for the product is down and they can’t make money with these inflated quotas and high prices on equipment.
Great job Sammy. You managed to cut costs on the spreadsheet but you also turned the people that made this company completely against you and have most going through the “quiet quitting” stage.
It’s amazing how little the Japanese who run this company value the American worker.
NOBODY WANTS TO BE THERE.
The sad truth is that we are all on a sinking ship. Management is out of control and I don’t see anything changing for the better. How do you have mgmt talking down to their employees? Discussing other employees business with their other WORKERS? Like another poster stated before this is being done on the daily. People quitting or moving to other teams because it’s impossible to work under certain managers. Being treated like cr-p and expecting the most in return is a joke which is why people are openly looking for other jobs
