Dave may not want to color outside the lines, and that's ok, but I think a lot of investors would have liked to get some color on foundry customer onboarding.
The info given in the earnings call met the legal need but did little to characterize the state of the business.
Product groups are still in the same funk due to the global economic slowdown that is affecting other companies, but even there was probably room to offer more insights.
It doesn't appear that the market was taking tariffs seriously and a semi tariff would have a huge impact on all TSMC customers, including Intel, so they all reacted to the imposition of tariffs on CN and MX.
Tariffs may end up being a negotiating tactic but considering how all other countries game their trade, it would be good to keep some level of tariffs regardless of negotiation.
The gov't may be talking to the fabless companies about what is coming and encouraging them to start the process of sourcing in the US, which would mostly be from TSMC, Samsung and Intel.
So the stock will get smashed along with the others, but there could be big foundry surprises along the way (plus takeover or breakup events).
Probably best to just watch from the sidelines, and let someone else eat the downside waiting for a gap up. I trade the stock and never held the stock while working there, and would not hold it in this environment if still relying on Intel for a paycheck.
I'm in at this tu-d for 5, not a penny more
We won! Intel is saved ! Fu-k all the haters!
Congratulations! CHIPS grant improved margin by 25 basis points. I'm surprised Finance can bake a grant into today's numbers. Pretty sad
Very low bar, for sure
As expected, the ELT did what could be done to (meet or) beat, and I expect sweater boy to speak of nothing but unicorns and rainbows, unless he passes the mic to MJ to cover the unicorn bit.
The sector looks really weak and that would eventually drag Intel down, but in the meantime any data points on divestitures, let alone a takeover, should be able to move the stock sharply.
The AH reaction shows how low the expectation was.
Intel stock is up after hours. Yay!! Time to go long.
The word bad may not mean what you think it means.
I expect the stock to hit $17 on Friday.
Orange Jeesus (and I mean that in the nicest way) appears about to apply up to 100% tariffs on all imported semiconductors, so the really exciting thing for the stock may have little to do with what sweater boy has to say.
Welcome to Chips Act 2. This is how it is done.
Stop trying to print more money than a communist country, because you can't.
Yea Intel stock even cheap or cheaper still a terrible investment. You buy low in hopes it goes high. The going high part is we are missing. And we all know it’s not happening anytime soon. Search your heart - your gut instinct - we all know it.
Any layoff or update on the selling of various business units should be good for the stock, because you can be assured that ELT are Lazer focused on reducing cost right now.
They want to protect the stock, to avoid activist investors or a hostile takeover. Can't do much of anything to improve revenue so they go after cost.
Anyone waiting for lower prices should be careful what they wish for, because it would take a market or sector decline and in that case Intel could end up in the single digits.
The other risk is that revenues materially worsen, as Intel is the weakest in the sector and more at risk to a recession.
A takeover would create a big gap up, but I doubt that is announced in an earnings call.
Layoffs happening through BUs this week. No CEO, no direction, foundry business is a sinking ship with nothing to show.
I predict no breaking news, just status update on divestitures.
Yeah, layoffs are ongoing, but if they are big enough to even mention then that likely causes a rally in the stock.
Lots of rumors out there about ampere being bought by Intel or arm, but I don't think there will be any news on that or anything specific on the ceo.
The most interesting thing might be some product sales updates or how onboarding foundry customers is going.
If it isn't obvious to everyone on this site, it is chock full of stock trolls.
The following Monday will be worse.
Waiting for $15 then I am back in.
I'll be ready to trade after hours. If it tanks near $15, I'm a buyer
Stock will touch 15 bucks afterthecall!!
What's your prediction for GAAP EPS? I'm seeing estimates ranging from $0.12 to $(0.24).
What’s gonna happen? No elon? 😢
The trend is not Intel's friend. For sure. I'll be listening on that call. Wouldn't miss it
