genius idea: let's cut bottom 5% every year

what can go wrong? such a ridiculous policy . what a race to the bottom, literally. the employee pool just keeps gettin smaller, untill you’re left with everything being optimized to the point that we do not need humans any more. . How does anyone think this is sustainable? you’re not just cutting the so-called weakest links, you’re gutting morale, making everyone paranoid, and pretty soon the only ones left are the ones who know how to play the game --- not necessarily the ones who actually do the best work... it's short-sighted and lazy, and at some point, it’s just gonna backfire when there's nobody left who actually gives a damn or knows how to behave when a major problem comes along.

Statement regarding out running person next to you is spot on. It's a rat race now. Your teammates are now your competition it's like survivor.

Old joke which is the premise of pay for performance - "You don't need to be faster than the bear… just faster than the person next to you!" during performance cycles. Advice - Better be nice to boss and not argue or ask for help.

It's all good if you are high enough. They are moving us around like pieces on the chess board.
