Manager Jobs Eliminated

Store Manager told us this week that we lost our OOM position and a CXM role. Our OOM was on LOA and won't be coming back so now the SMM will have to do both jobs. Our CXM job was open before the holidays and now it is just eliminated. Every manager in the store now has a lot more responsibility and has to spend even more time as floor coverage in Executive in Charge shifts each week.

We also lost our detective and personal stylist, so now we don't have any AP in the building and nobody to help with setting up and coordinating events. We have so much AP activity in the building, not sure how we are going to survive this year 40% less management in the store and no AP. We also heard that the NPS goal for the new year is 80 which something like only 10 stores in the company achieved this year. What an unrealistic plan for 2025 with huge reductions in talent and resources while also increasing goals to unrealistic levels.

Anyone else hearing about these reductions for next year and new goals?

Even N75 stores lost Leadership

You are so correct. I am so concerned about my job. It is the sane fear every year around this time. Every executive i know in stores barring the ones in the G50 stores, have "quiet quit". Minimum work with no desire to go the 'extra foot!!' These people from NY go flying around the country in their private planes and first class bringing no value through their "visits". The company has no vision, no desire to win or grow. It is just managing to stave off hostile hedge fund investors who are only interested in Macy's real estate. Let's collectively hold our breath!!

No cuts to leadership at my store but we made sales plans for the year and showed growth which could be one of the factors that helped us, but overall we are stretched thin 3 floors is tough

If your store was cut to that low of a leadership base, then your store is more than likely going to close in the next year or two. They took stores that will be closing down to the minimum to add back to the F50 and N75 stores.

Our store is now down to just three managers, a SSM, MBA, and CXM. Last year we had two CXM's and one of them was out on LOA for half the year. We are being told that Captains will be running the building when managers aren't available. Should be interesting to see what happens the next time there is some sort of incident and we have a Captain who makes $19 an hour running the store. Macy's better hope that nobody goes out on LOA this year. This is crazy, the CXM has almost everybody in the store reporting to her now.

From my understanding, AP is not through attrition.

Were these AP and sales through atrrition or layoffs?

We also lost AP in our building, not sure yet what other positions. My store wouldn’t be hurt if we lost our OOM, this person DOES NOTHING but be behind the desk all day, retaliate on colleagues and CXMs. My store needs new leadership team, a store manager with a back bone that actually knows the business and does for the entire store vs 1 fob, an smm that knows how to run the entire fobs when it comes to merchandising/planning/floormoves/etc..an mba who actually helps colleagues, balances check book, is fair with hours. My store is upside down and standing on 1 foot all thanks to the store manager. Cuts should start from the very top since these people run the store and make poor decisions, leaving colleagues to the last.

Getting paid $75k a year to listen to sit in the office and listen to customer complaints is hard.

My store leadership team is on the bare minimum “due to volume” and everyone is stressed and stretched to the max.

Also we lost a few colleague positions a few days ago and we’re all wondering why?

Think about it like this, if one of the biggest complaints from your customer base is the lack of available associates, then why go on a rampage and eliminate those positions?

Also the executive team at each store is being stretched beyond their capacities. He-l, even when I was in leadership 5yrs ago and we had a full staff at a lower volume door, we would have loved to had an extra body to help.

I can only imagine what my store’s leadership team is going thru with one person doing the job of three people AND you have to be out on the sales floor putting out fires and god forbid your store is a multi-level door (2 floors, 3 floors, or more).

This company is ridiculous and stands in its own way of success.
