The Government of Maharashtra, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth an estimated $52,000,000 with Nielsen India at the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos. The agreement aims to boost the state’s IT and ITeS sector by generating 1,100 new jobs in specialised technical fields such as AI, data science, and analytics.

The MoU was signed by Karthik Rao, CEO of Nielsen India, and highlights Maharashtra’s strategic push to establish itself as a global leader in technology and innovation. This investment is expected to enhance the state’s capabilities in developing data-driven solutions, supporting its vision for technological advancement.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office shared the news on social media, emphasising the state’s role in fostering innovation and positioning itself as a key hub for the IT and ITeS industries.

AI jobs, I don't think Karthik itself understands what that means, they are just following trends as they have always done...

This would be “good” news if it was an investment in the American employees. Wish Trump would fine Nielsen for all of the outsourcing and BS being done to the American positions and opportunities for growth. No future for Nielsen when you outsource help and they don’t understand basic processes or information.

They should replace Karthik with AI

Nobody relevant in the world of AI, data and measurement cares about this, or anything to do with Nielsen. It's just another "look at our progress" news drop that like always with Nielsen will go nowhere.

For those that do not know, Nielsen has an extensive history of trying to look relevant, yet with so many bad business decisions made over the decades they were forced to clear house and move operations to India to survive ... said BTW no successful company ever.

Wow, $52MM in the world of tech and AI to create 1100 jobs? Jeez, can't wait to hear all of the success stories from those offshore making $4.73 per hour to code and manage bots.
