Time tracking

Is anyone else’s group being asked to track their time? We are being asked to track what we do, in detail, everyday for two weeks. Everyone, regardless of position, is required to do this. We have never been asked to do this before.

Somehow, I don’t think this will end well, especially considering that Q4 is almost upon us.

If your group is starting time reporting... layoffs are coming. Do you best to link your time to critical projects vs. the many hours you attend in meetings or coaching/supporting your team.

Good chance they are trying to figure out what % to allocate your costs out to Buisness units or other functions using the 2 week sample. This would be bad because it moves your funding to someone else’s budget line and they can think you’re less important their other stuff. This is what happened to my group and it was a big layoff that year.

My understanding is "if you/they can not charge your time directly to a business cost center" You can be deemed a "not critical to the business" aka "dead wood"

Q4 will be tough. Latest update is that all ERG has no budget. We are still asked to host events but have to be "CREATIVE" . They ask us to do potluck for whole site out of our own expense . It is a whole new world here in Medtronic employees are asked to pay for the employer

It’s to figure out what you do so that they can eliminate or outsource the jobs.
Transformation or synergy or cost savings…some corporate speak nonsense will ensue.
Sorry- my function had to do this and they used it to lay people off…
