Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It's all fun and games till you get the meeting invite from IT Info Security.

Less Fun: being terminated with cause means you don't get unemployment.

Know the company policies and follow them.

Or don't if you really, really must spend all day posting on this website.

It's a choice.

Not sure if it is because of this but I continue to see people who appear to have left, since the last big wave of departures.

Seems to be happening to individuals, but no one is saying why.

Thanks OP, I was walked on Friday by HR. arggghh!

It was due to what they considered to be too much time surfing the web.

I wasn't on this site but did probably spend too much time outside the fab goofing off online.

I wanted to go anyway but would have preferred to have the choice.

Ah. One problem.

There is no Intel IP on this site.

Mockery. Pointed comments. Grousing. Speculation. Hopes. Sure.

If the best you can do is "surfing the web on company time", but sure to include surfing any and all sites.

Just sent IT a link.

I'm one of the refired, but am surprised this site is even allowed on the Intel network.

It seems designed to attract obsessive behavior and that is not good for productivity.

Someone should send the link to IT InfoSec to have the site banned from the network.

And yes, InfoSec is a real thing, and serious business. You don't want to go there.

IT is scheduled to audit Def Met teams' communications and internet usage in all US-based fabs in WW04 2025.

IT should be checking met def teams communications and internet usage if they haven’t yet

I just sent IT an email with the link, and suggest other do the same.

Maybe it will generate enough firings to reduce the need for the next layoff.

Seems like a good way to pick out the slackers.

@a7+1jjd1ne00 Anyone wasting company time on the internet should be terminated for cause.

Anyone wishing to remain employed should be focused on their job.

@ak+1jjd1ne00 IP is intellectual property.

Infosec is watching the network for patterns and that effort is linked to who is logged into the device, be it personal or company device.

Been many, many cases of IP theft over the years which the company has prosecuted vigorously.

The other issue is where someone is choosing to spend their days messing around on the internet. Infosec has screens for that as well.

It is merely the enforcement of policy, and the people in Infosec take their job a lot more seriously than some of the robo-posters on this site.

This performance management approach is the best way to do attrition, as it is focused on those who are not even able to comply with company policy.

InfoSec, HR and Legal work as a team to identify and rapidly exit those who are the greatest risk for IP leaks and other violations.

They kick it into high gear any time the company is doing headcount actions, but that is most of the time somewhere in the company.

The way it works is you get a meeting invite then have about 5 minutes to explain why you should not be terminated, but unless you can prove that you are not in violation then off you go, to pretend-work at some other company.

Ok to surf the web but not for hours at a time, and any IP leak is grounds for termination, as it should be.

Have a nice day, BTO/WFH guy.
