Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Which positions actually are getting jobs/transferred out of Home Health?

From another post: [after the first call of 300+ layoff] “another call happened 30 minutes later for the remaining hundred or so people and they will be moved to other departments and keep their jobs”.

Which positions were these? Were these CSOCs and HHCCs? Asking because the carrot dangling in front of everybody working until March 31 is that we have the option to apply to other positions.

Clearly if those have all been prefilled and they have just decided we are the expendable ones where realistically there will be no jobs (because 100 lucky ones will get them) it would be nice to know.

I thought so too. But there are off-shore (PH) US RNs that have been hired and working for Optum and UHC. Most coders are PH based. There’s no way they can off-shore MDs. But we can’t underestimate greed. They will just automate every pre-auth and any thing they can to cut clinician intervention.

Every 6 months since CHC they have laid off around 400 people by group calls. Resumes are being sent and never responded to. All the work is being pushed onto the folks that are left and everyone is overloaded and burnt out. But isn't this the goal ? The more people they can get to quit the less they have to lay off.

Hi, I'm the one who made that comment. It was mostly L1 CSOCs on the call. All of the L2s and L3s were laid off as of March 31st.

I’m pretty sure the 2nd call was for employees living in states with specific laws regarding layoffs. NJ requires a 90 day notice. Those working in those states just received a different termination date.

I understand what you are saying with IT, HR, etc, but legally they can’t use overseas MDs, therapists, etc so that doesn’t really apply to some roles.

isn’t it obvious? the ones in the second call are being transferred to other positions. the ones in the first call were told to apply as a way for optum to pretend they’re helping you all when they arent going to lift a finger for you. you’re gone by 3/31 and they are not helping you.

No one will get anything. This company lies to everyone. Once laid off you are gone. You can waste your time putting in hundreds of resumes and you will get not an offer. Take your severance package, your unemployment and take a break from this toxic company. Than reapply later and open your horizons. What everyone doesn’t accept is that this company will in the end have very little employees and most will be contracted out or overseas.
