Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Project 2025 Layoff

Sources are saying internal leadership is going to utilize H-B1 Visas to train replacements within the US and then send them home packing. In addition, they are expecting massive cuts to Healthcare from the new administration. Optum along with other companies to start utilizing AI, since it was unleashed with very limiting restrictions this week under the new administration. As AI will reduce the need for workforce (+healthcare). In addition, with the expected tarrifs, food shortages, companies will be forced to cut costs, which is primarily labor. Optum is trying reduce cash outlays and survive.

As someone who works on AI tools, they aren’t even close to being there yet. We pay AI engineers so little there are no experts in our company. Instead you have teams in India play with ChatGPT and call themselves experts. You’ll see some areas get faster which does mean employee head count will reduce but it won’t be able to do your job.

I think we should demand Witty and every single top level person to release their bonus, raise and fund all their PTO into the employee pot to help those of us who are getting mere .30 cent raises and little PTO compared to them. That will show us they actually care I swear the emails that have been sent this week about how much we work hard and are appreciated and the company is “ changing healthcare for the better” made me gag

Seems like a lot of people are upset at basic facts...AI was unleashed this week to help the elites. Many of you should look at the M1/M2 money supply and you will see under which administration it spiked, then you will know why we had inflation.

Correction:.Executives are NOT taking pay cuts or bonuses cuts.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. It's very easy to circumvent the process H1-B Visa, just show them you had 100 apply, 5 interviewed, but 0 were qualifed based on merit. Then you bring them here to train and send them home, if they train them remotely it makes them harder to jump ship as many want to work here for 1-2 years. We did this at Walmart in 2002.

If we go by his last term I was able to get a job within a month of looking for multiple jobs when I moved around a lot
It took almost three years to get a job under Biden. And now the risk of layoffs are on the horizon FML 🤦🏻‍♀️

That actually makes sense. I assume you mean that H-B1 Visas will be used to train replacements here and they would go home to train others. I was at the grocery store today and eggs were $8!+ I voted for Trump because he said he was for us common folks, but what I witnessed on Monday were a bunch of elite supporters of his and zero common folks. I can't believe I voted for this...

This has more to do with corporate greed and less to do with politics. People are just now starting to realize how bad it is, but of course relate it to the administration. What is your excuse for UHG doing massive layoffs year after year under Biden?

Why would UHG spend much money on H1B visas when they can just train those people remotely, which is what they’re doing now?

A company cannot just “sponsor” an employee for an H1-B visa. There has to be proof that there is a shortage of people in the industry (in the US) prompting them to hire people from overseas. And the Department of Labor should confirm that. And the whole process is expensive and tedious. This is fake news, my friend.

If the layoff was because of the cyber attack they wouldn’t have a routine of doing this the past few years. The truth is the SHAREHOLDERS and top exces want more money. No amount will ever satisfy them . Hiring visa holder migrants will spark more backlash so they offshore to cheaper labor overseas without the whistles and bells of security and monitoring they have in the US. I talk to memebrs and hospitals and clinics who are rude as he-l to those of my co workers who have a thick accent and will argue with you until they bring you to years ( as they should this company is evil) I can’t imagine the backlash of an elderly person trying to speak to someone with a thick accent that doesn’t understand the dialect, slang or terms we use in America. There will be endless lawsuits to the company by 2027. Jail time for shareholders and these elites of the UHG who sit on their a-s and just rake in the cash while not giving two craps if their employees eat or members die. The light will shine on the secrets that go on in the dark. I don’t condone violence but I have faith the American people will demand the government and healthcare as a whole hold this evil company accountable and I can’t wait to see the day these high sitting people fall from grace and have to answer to the lies they have spread and the corruption they let run rampant.
