Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Layoffs, Hiring Freezes, or Reorgs Affecting My Team Placement ?

I'm currently in the final stages of the hiring process, but I've experienced unexpected delays and changes with the team matching beacuse of changes in hiring manager assigned to me. I'm wondering if internal factors like layoffs, hiring freezes, or organizational restructurings are there and could be influencing these issues. Has anyone else encountered similar situations where such internal changes impacted your potential team placement? How did you handle it, and what was the outcome? Seeking insights and advice on navigating these challenges.

Also, we have two backfill positions open and we were told there is a hiring freeze and cannot fill those roles. My bet is that there are changes coming and they will wait until Q3 ends to implement them.

The rumor right now is that there will possibly be a layoff between now and mid February. Several teams will be impacted but it will primarily affect cloud. The last major layoff in 2023 was also in January right before Q3 ended. I can’t tell you that there is a pending layoff, but it definitely seems like there is something happening in the background. I know my cloud teams are being put under a microscope and IC contributions are being measured by senior leadership. Make of it what you will.

it is a generic rolling basis hiring, which means after the interview they send my resume to different HMs and then assign me a team

Netapp has had a tumultuous two years, especially in the product team due to a catastrophic management hire (no names).
Teams are closing down, moving around. The end result is chaos and many people not knowing what they are doing with no timeframe for stabilization. But in general if you join, you can use the chaos to coast.
Which team were you applying for?
