Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

New CEO did a mass no-severance layoff at Pearson/Boundless

“ The former Pearson OPM unit - Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS), soon to be renamed as Boundless Learning - lays off half its staff with no severance and no pay for paid time off while also unilaterally ending non-profitable program partnerships.”

This place should be sued out of existence for gross incompetence. Such a horrible company that has only made the education industry worse because of it.

Ever seen the movie Up in the Air? It's a classic. Well, it's off to the Big Easy for the Super Bowl and taking in $20K a month, with another $200K in April.

Start playing it smart. Leverage any protected status you have—disability, age, LGBT—and make it known. Mention it casually in Slack when relevant or ensure it’s updated in your HR profile. Being a protected employee improves your chance of securing a severance, even in a mass layoff. Companies want to avoid claims of discrimination, especially if you argue that you were unfairly targeted for layoffs.

I hope everyone who is still there is actively looking and applying elsewhere. The signs are very obvious that 2U is a sinking ship and that the workforce is expendable.

I'm concerned that with the new CEO and restructuring of some of the departments that is exactly where we are headed is to another mass layoff.

New CEO was a huge part of the reason so many were laid off at Boundless Learning. No severance or PTO paid out...it was a huge disaster and now he gets to move on to the next?!
