I can’t take this anymore. Getting laid off would be a relief right now. The constant stress, the politics, the incompetence, it’s all draining me. I’ve never been this miserable at work. The toxic atmosphere around here is unbearable. If they did layoffs tomorrow, I’d take the payout and run without a second thought. Just need to get out.

Thanks for sharing, but what's the point of this post? Are you looking for permission to bail or to be talked out of leaving? You don't want to be at 3M anymore, so just GTFO & get on with your life.

Goodnight, goodnight, until we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn 'til then
And though it's always sweet sorrow to part
You know you'll always remain in my heart
Goodnight, sleep tight, and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn
GOOD NIGHT!
Au revoir
Bye bye!
The worst are the bosses who believe themselves to be infallible and who continue this game of harassment against those below because they believe us to be guilty of everything. If most of them were in other company, they wouldn't last a year. Their career in this company has only been to agree without thinking with their superior.
EMEA specially.
If you left today you would still get 2024 AIP payout, but you would not receive anything for 2025 AIP. You have to be employed the entire AIP period to receive the payout (through 31Dec), so even if you worked through 30Dec, you would receive zero AIP payout.
@cx+1jj9aea8x:
My significant other left 3M in February 2022 and received the AIP payment in March.
I know someone who was laid off in fall '19 and got their pro-rated AIP deposit in Feb/Mar '20 (whenever 3M paid it out) just like normal. But that person was over 55, so retirement eligible, which does change a few things.
Does anyone have experience resigning before bonuses are paid out? The AIP policy says there is "no change" to payout if you leave voluntarily after the performance period and before it's paid, but I'm not sure I trust them to uphold the policy...
How do you fight someone that just up and takes away your benefit? It’s not like anyone asked.
This was a statement from 3M, not a question.
Yes we blame our leaders for this short sightedness. But that’s not brining the money back.
They got rid of me, and I got the payout. All I can say is that with the payout being relatively limited, you are in a better position to job hunt while still getting that monthly paycheck. Do what you need to do for your role as they are paying you for it, but also job hunt as that payout might not be worth the mental stress that you are experiencing. Going job to job is better than getting the small payout and being under new stress to find a new job before the payout runs out.
I can't believe 3Mers didn't put up more of a fight to keep pension and the extra manager bonus.
All taken away.
I was forced into retirement after 35 years of service, just after covid 19 lockdown.
For the pension, I was offered $3 million lump sum or $15,000/month for life.
I selected the lump sum and rolled it into my 401K, then IRA.
Retirement makes the grind worth it!
While you're still there, and looking for another position externally, it might help to give fewer F's about what happens at 3M. Think of yourself as an actor - pretend to care, fake the engagement, but leave it at work and focus on your search. The reality is the ship is going down due to the sins of the past (PFAS) with or without your individual contributions. Milk every ounce of that paycheck until you find something better.
I know people who’ve departed 3M and become so much healthier. They’ve learned to laugh again, focus with purpose, and become the enjoyable person they were prior to 3M. It’s truly a toxic environment and it seeps into all aspects of your life including your personal relationships. Protect your mental and physical health, get out, and reclaim your happiness.
