Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Emails

I feel for everyone here who is stressed, it seems like even those who have busted their tails off and met every standard or exceeded it can be cut which is a complete moral k**ler for those who stay.
It is not lost on me the email Cinafrocco sent yesterday going over why “ you work so hard everyday, why you keep coming back when it gets difficult” which feels like a slight slap to the face since Optum is doing lay offs. And for those who said they have cancelled all Town hall meetings there is one set for Feb. 13th ( 1-2:15 CT) of course to discuss the new organizational structure and their “ vision” for 2025.

Found out Thursday 1/23 that I'm in the first group of layoffs and my last day is 2/6. They've kept us on pins and needles for a month saying they will have an update on the situation mid January around the 16th and we hear nothing, and then on the 23rd at 9:30 we get an invitation to a meeting at 10:00 then bo-m. So that su-ked.

I work in communications. Unfortunately upper leadership pushes us to send out those emails, like the one referenced with Cianfrocco, no matter how opposite the reality of the internal mood. You're not wrong for feeling upset and insulted by what was written there. It's a classic corporate attempt at managing the growing frustration of thousands. Remember The Wizard of Oz? "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"

I urge those of you in Optum to tell your supervisor or manager you’re going to attend the town hall meetings. And if they give you slack report them to their manager or HR I know many ( like in HH) who got told they couldn’t attend even though we all get the invite, if you are on IBP you miss out on so much and it feels sneaky that they invite everyone but only about 1/3 actually watch it after or go, you miss out on so much information and are left in the dark. You are allowed to attend every meeting sent to you end “ encouraged” by upper management so use it!
