Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

Word on the street for Temple

Temple texas is on the chopping block, GF3 is purposely refusing to shop any high horsepower units, which means trains don’t get built, and mechanical doesn’t have work. By manipulating numbers he’s telling his superiors they are working safe but in reality he is making it so that Temple doesn’t work at all. Roundhouse numbers are down to 1 unit a day after spending millions on a new shop, but he can’t handle another injury, so he’s making so no work of any significance is being performed in Temple. He hired a dummy for an AGF that just says Yesah massah. Overtime is solely called to fill a roster vacancy, but no work being done because there’s no work to be had. Contracts with wabtec and unions being violated by purposely sabotaging workers ability to do work via numbers manipulation or refusing to allow defects to be fixed, so it’s only a matter of time. End of peak season is going to be the end of a lot of careers, when they cut Temple based on Bobbie’s lies and manipulation, that will be it, but the most you will get from him is a sign on the door saying I’m unavailable

When you said Bobby Burnau would turn in his family to save his a-s you’re not wrong. I worked with Bobby’s dad for 20 + yrs and I can tell you his own father doesn’t trust him one bit. We were happy when he left Barstow. He was a sh---y electrian and even shittier supervisor. He’s a petty mfer and will do anything to make himself look good. Barstow doesn’t want him back . He was the most hated supervisor here in Barstow

Who cares, Temple is a dumpster fire right now based on upper management pressure, hit squads, and firing managers leaving temple to burn slow. With drones, cameras, and fort worth pressure, the same way they got Ty is the way they are going to get everyone. They had Ty’s replacement picked out well before the last incident, hence why no jobs posted to fill, and person auto selected. 100% rules compliance is a pipe dream for management while BNSF FRA compliance is a pipe dream for workers, and the idea anyone will be 100% compliant at anything is like kicking a donkey in the nether region from behind hoping not to get your teeth kicked out. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what the company is planning on doing to temple in the name of compliance. Company will say Temple be 100% rules compliant know they are planning on scabbing it out the way they did Houston with RJ Corman, just need a good line to sell the press when it happens. Rule still applies BNSF is going to do what it wants to do, FRA, rules, unions, contracts etc be damned

Hey powder River, Bobby told all mechanical departments to send it north, bad or not, he doesn’t want mechanical to do any work, and will personally punish any supervisor who authorizes cars to be set out in temple unless FRA bad orders it, and even then he will say it fail in route going north, just do you know where the blame lies

Can’t believe Robert Burnau doesn’t think he is the oblivious ja----s that is responsible for people being at home or at jobs 2k miles away from home, news flash…Bobby and the temple desk jockies are the reason people are posting at all, you ran temple into the ground, and cost a lot of people their jobs, forced them to NM, and are still working on cutting more. Cant wait until new corporate takes over, they can get rid of weasels like Bobby who would sellout their own family in Barstow to get brownie points.

Feb 5, 2:25 Katie shuts down temple and furloughs everyone, Feb 5 2:30 pm katies town hall in empty tower with only the sounds of the souls that she banished to the railroad afterlife to hear her speak about how much BNSF is looking to expand and grow, 2:35 Katie’s zoom meeting with Warren buffet and shareholders to say temple is operating at 100% efficiency and maximum velocity now with no trains being built or ran, but record profits being made due to cost saving measures being implemented, 2:45 Katie stages card board cut outs of railroad workers she just fired through out the yard and mechanical, premade for such a special occasion. Through the use of AI, she will proceed to partake in make shift photo op session with the card board cutouts for pictures to line the halls of TTC so that the memory of the souls her deep a $$ snatched, like the light being su-ked into a black hole of space, will forever being trapped in the abyss of railroad memory, frozen in artificial smiles and pain. 2:55 Katie departs temple aboard officer special peering out the window to the scenes of TYs card board cut outs being molested by two vagrants, and JRPs cutout holding what once was an RCO box, but now is a giant sharpie drawn rooster and ba--s, being licked perfusely in the cr---h by a coyote before being dragged into the brush by the heavy’s. The end or is it….

Temple grew and thrived under Marshall, Romero, Lechuga, and even Stone. With a pattern of success and growth, something changed in Temple. But it wasn't the crafts. Can you use context clues and deductive reasoning to figure out the answer? New management is here to plunder the spoils before torching it to the ground. Morale is at an all time low. Nepotism is rampant. Fire sale? Bring a friend.

Upper management in Temple have no vision unless it's to run this place into the ground. Neither one of them take pride in the shop unless it is to pat themselves or each other on the back for the current injury free record which they did not contribute to, but are sure to take credit for.

At least Burnau will try to smile while he lies to your face - giving the typical politician answer that doesn't answer your question at all, but just avoids it. He'll whisper sweet nothings into your ear as he twists the kn--e in your back.

His underling will twist your words and use them against you. Nothing is his fault and he can do no wrong, though he consolidates duties from the level 28 and then fails to preform them. Kohl is unbelievable arrogant and doesn't listen to advice or reason. You cannot tell him anything because his cup is already full.

Neither have any people skills. No empathy. From what I've seen, both are totally soulless, corporate bots with skin, hair, and teeth. Death of a spouse? Standard bereavement. They won't approve unpaid leave to grieve and let you get your affairs in order. Have a kid born with disabilities? They won't approve the donation of vacation time from members of the same craft so you can stay at the hospital and adjust to your new situation. Heart issue? Try and fire him for not reporting it to BNSF medical.

Burnau and Boone have front line supervisors vet EVERY single motor for defects prior to shopping, and then they have to ask for approval. They are terrified to have it in the shop longer than 24 hours.

Any defects that are found get deferred and run out without getting fixed. Everyday, system wide, the number of lead qualified units dwindles while non-qualified units accumulate more and more defects. The crafts might as well be pre-Trump era border patrol. They are only allowed to point them at and watch them go. This is not a sustainable business strategy. At this point, the only way to stop the company from running unsafe, defective motors is mass, anonymous, system wide reporting to the FRA.

If I were Robert Burnau, I would be nervous of the upcoming town hall with Mrs. Katy Farmer herself. He will have no way to prevent getting called out during Q&A. He wont be able to puppy dog guard her like he does his bosses are down for a visit - keeping them on the red brick side of the tracks and escorting them around the shop should they wander across that way he can deter employees from approaching Moreno and Demond.

Mismanagement. Lying to his superiors, subordinates, and the craftsmen... Blaming his superiors when trying to explain to the craft why work is being run out of the area. Using his subordinates as a buffer for angry and confused employees along side just plain not being able to be found on property most days. Then, telling his superiors that the craft can't fill their jobs when all crafts are stretched this, working multiple assignments daily and not authorizing any overtime.

Feb 5 2:30 pm Katie farmers town hall in temple

Katie will be in Temple for open town hall at Temple tower at 2:30 pm, be sure you invite your local news agencies, so it can be asked on the record how much more is she going to reduce the workforce in Temple, considering how many injuries and incidents her decision making has led to in both mechanical and TYE, and will BNSF continue to do so at the expense of the communities and areas they operate in to satisfy shareholders rather than customers considering a 1.4 billion dollar profit in Q3 2024. You can ask anything you want on your last day of employment, but then again if they are going to furlough essential employees that were so needed during coviid, doesn’t really matter now does it.

Word is Burnau got the word to take GF3 position in Barstow or be forced out based on failed leadership, with middle management realignment from mech operations sup 2 in Fort Worth down, either he takes it or be forced back to being an electrician in Barstow, but he’s going to back to California one way or another

Bobby will stack sfs units from one end of the round house to the other when Katie comes next week, with no defects or deferred defects, and then put on a big show about how he doesn’t know what anyone is talking about, when she gets her photo op in front of new pad and new shop she will leave, Bobby’s sign will go back on his door and mechanical will turn into a ghost town or more furloughs will happen based on his fabrication, lies, and manipulation, which is what BNSF truly values in a leader

But watch when Katie Farmer comes to temple next week, Bobby will allow units to be stacked up from one end of the round house to the other, and say oh look at the work we are doing with this new facility, but in reality will be SFS units with no defects or deferred defects, as a smoke screen so he can get his atta boy and deny that he knows anything. Lies and manipulation, the qualities BNSF really values in leadership.

Accurate but also telling, as Temple is losing management left and right, TYE lost terminal manager and 5 trainmasters in less than 6 months, only one left is TY, so when it becomes apparent that Bobby is going to take TYs job as superintendent, which is not much of a move GF3 to TYE superintendent, with same pay, and that Bobby is purposely manipulating numbers so TY can’t get trains out of temple safely based on either power being unavailable or trains being kicked out of roundhouse still needing to be repaired, labeled as LUMO, or shop to shop, it’s going to be very interesting what power calls are going to look like when TY realizes his replacement is the guy directly doing him dirty, while roundhouse foreman are collateral damage in the game of whose to blame. That’s a twisted web BNSF is allowing to occur in temple knowing it’s costing money, man hours, as well as lost revenue based on delayed trains
