Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Projects townhall

Sat in the projects call for "americas". Really disappointing to see how poorly planned this org is. Phrases used by senior leaders were; "not sure what will happen next year", "this is a bottom-up build", "what we are doing is a really good thing", "none of us know the answer", "cant be sure of further changes in 2026"....etc. It seems they are making it up as they go along. AMegs has demonstrated she is unfit puts her foot in her mouth regularly. Perhaps it really would be better if they just broke this company apart and sold it off....really depressing but its clear that there isnt really a medium-long term plan, at least which leaders know about.

The level of ambiguity can be explained by the fact that bp doesn't have a long range strategies on how to operate more efficiently. I've never seen a more optics-focused company who jumps the minute a shareholder cries foul. When I was there, the phrase that was pounded into us was: "one quarter at a time." It matter not that the success of our unit could not be seen in the next quarter as it took longer time. I also agree that Middle Management is kept in the dark. Sad, but I think that's the reality.

Middle management probably knows what’s happening. They just are not ready to announce it.

Middle management kept in the dark could be a bad sign. Maybe they don't know the plan because their managers have them next on the chopping block.
