Canyon Bridge is selling imgtec.
I wonder if American customers likes of Google or Texas Instruments would be interested in buying it despite that article explaining that the Chinese have stripped the company from its patents.
There was the case with Nvidia for example a few years ago using 3rd party GSM/3G modems by Infineon, and when Intel bought Infineon the deal broke. So Jensen Huang decided to buy his own soft modem company (the British ICERA startup) to liquidate it a few years later (but that's another story)
Google or Texas Instruments could be in the same position: if a company was to acquire Imagination (say Mediatek) and then refuse to sell them then GPUs, where would they get new GPUs?
For American companies there's also the sword of Damocles that is Trump and his economic fight against China. In his previous mandate, Trump prevented US companies to use tech provided by Chinese owed companies (and imgtec is Chinese owned at the moment!)
