In an oil company, disciplines other than subsurface are truly “support functions” and could be trimmed as needed.
Agreed. Cuts will impact all departments and it’s far from over. The company desperately needs a positive message for investors, which will still be very challenging, all things considered. Best of luck and watch your back.
These random layoffs are just as bad as a mass layoff. Suspense is not fun. Marketing. Who’s next. IT? Accounting needs a big mgmt headcount reduction.
Yes there is zero need for "Global Exploration" or any new international activity when we are such a tiny company.
Also, Suriname is non-op and Total ONLY wants us to pay the bills as needed, nothing more frankly!
Probably everywhere, but I imagine exploration and the support functions will be the hardest hit. Some local trimming on the core asset/production teams.
I would guess exploration will be kept to a skeleton crew only to evaluate new deals and farm-ins. Minor near field stuff (Egypt)
“I don’t know why you guys keep dropping McKinsey.” Ha! Yeah, we know what’s driving it. Read the room.
It was a joke slappy.
I don’t know why you guys keep dropping McKinsey. They aren’t driving this.
McKinsey has found that town halls can help employees see the good they can do in their day-to-day work. We will take it and like it, or else. 😔
When are they filing chapter 11 😤😤😤😤
My thoughts exactly below. What’s the next shock to come.
They’ve scheduled the town hall on Tuesday, what are they going to surprise us with this time!?
