Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

I'm about ready to leave

I have two interviews scheduled for next week, and if either of them goes well, I’m out of here. Cargill has completely burned through all the goodwill I had left over the past year. I don’t know many people who aren’t thinking about leaving at this point. Well done, leadership, well done...

Cargill values and puts people first. CCNA inclusive facility project is highly focused on. This is the message that is passed down from management during that call ask us anything. But let me say that no one at the plant level sees any of this put into action! Women are not thought of. Nursing mothers do not get good clean facilities. Women have very small locker rooms. Women feel like a complete after thought! It is demoralizing.

The layoffs continue. Cargill shuts down an entire plant and it is not mentioned on a call titled CCNA Ask Us Anything.
Management screens the questions asked and therefore skirt around answering any real questions like what is the plan, what are we going to do moving forward. And they answer things like how are we aligned on Plan Cargill 2030 and priorities.

I had multiple, competitive new job offers less than two weeks after the restructure in December and started a new and more exciting position within a month. Chaos can create opportunity and if that’s why you’re staying, good for you, but there is meaningful work and life outside of Cargill.

I decided to leave before the layoffs occurred because everyone deserves to work in an environment and in a role that excites them. I haven’t heard anyone who is left at Cargill express that they are excited for the future, just that they want to wait things out and see where they land. After what we went through for the last 4 month of 2024 with the uncertainty and secrecy of Cargill 2030, I would not leave my fate in the hands of people who do not care about you.

Your career is yours to manage and your impact is all that matters in a job interview, not how long you sat around pushing papers in a job while others made decisions about your future. Own your career and make the choice that is best for your future and your family but know the trade offs and limitations that uncontrolled chaos like what is happening at cargill will bring. It may work out but in the worst case scenario, it will not be forgiving.

I worked there for 7 years and it was miserable. They don't care about you, their needs are the only important ones. Their favorite hire is a male with a stay at home wife so they can su-k all his time while wifey takes care of the rest. And after pouring your heart and soul into a job they treat you like cr-p and try to fire you. I left 12 years ago and have NEVER regretted it!

I’m with you. I’m now surrounded by people who cannot think critically to problem solve basic tasks. I’m actually doubting if any of my work &/or emails have even been read over the years

We are doing exactly what they said we should not do, “more with less” and continuing to do the same work without thinking about the little value that work provides. Some seemed to have missed this message entirely…

Indeed...after 10 years, you can be kicked to the curb...right before Christmas! Seems to me that Cargill went downhill when they moved so many areas, including HR to other countries such as Costa Rica. Well, they saved money, sc--wed the employees, but personally made sure they benefitted! Sad employment world today! Good luck!

5years is the max you should work for Cgl or corps like it . U max out on learning and practicing, u literally graduate there.then go for other venture that values you more and has open space for you to do what you enjoy. Cgl is designed to keep u incapacitated and u rely on them in your life ,till one day they decide you have no role there. I worked FOR Cargill all over the world Asia, Europe, America . I did unique jobs and run green PnL wherever They sent me. i took BUs from loss to profits and stuck to the biz plans in military plan. In Wayzata u have to be within the clan and attend the same church as the guys in the castle..they refused the changes I have advised . They gave me the beneath message, u can’t go up anymore because i was not grad of Iowa university…. I told them I am leaving. The left behind were so happy they will take over my work. But I told the boss in the castle that xyz BU’s will collapse in 6 months to 1 year. He laughed …. I went for entrepreneurial job i revived the new place and I heard those BU’s I left behind in Cgl collapsing in fashion and I was not in the same field anymore…I took no customer or account…Cgl is not for the entrepreneurs or innovators. Once u step in you are paralyzed and owner by Cgl. There is simpler life outside better do it once you graduate from Cargill , it is good school and time your leave before they push u out.

They are somewhat counting on people leaving on their own. Let them fire you and negotiate a good severance package. If you’re not fired, you can still leave voluntarily afterwards.

Worked for Cargill for almost 35 years, I unfortunately have terminal cancer, I worked through two years of chemo and radiation, I was over the department so there was a lot of 7 days a week that I worked sick, I had no help from my boss, just expectations, Cargill replaced me with someone younger and in good health, they let me go without insurance no job and discontinued my life insurance, I gave my heart to that company, they crushed it?

15 yrs. And I've been at the house almost a month now. I seen the writing on the walls long ago and after 10 yrs of service I always vowed I'd stay until the severance check.
And that I did. I've seen this rodeo before. And that plant was in its second hyper care event.

You will never regret leaving Cargill. Started my new job Monday and I am thrilled to be on a winning team again. There is no glory in going down with the ship. Think of yourself and your future.
