Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

No more MBA ?

Maybe restructuring of positions ? Looking at how Bloomingdale’s runs with no MBA . Operations manager has the role of all operations , online orders , receiving and maintaining HUR in all areas of the store .

Is this recent that the MBA was eliminated in Bloomingdales? Because I see job postings for it.

Yes, I can confirm that in Bloomingdale’s, the position of the MBA and AP Manager was eliminated in all stores. AST and Asst APM positions were retained. Nit sure if this will be followed by Macy's.

Smm and oom merge isn't forced? It was last year. And the work load is crazy.

MBA isn't going away.

Smaller stores will (and already have) merge SMM and OOM. But these aren't forced, it happens when someone in one of these roles leaves. Then the extra workload is dumped not only on the remaining manager but on all managers.

This will be the week we find out my store director has been in meetings the entire day sequestered in her office

If MBA went away and small stores that only have a SMM and no OOM which went away in 2023 for some stores there would be no way SMM could do it all. My SMM does both SMM role and OOM and no help AT ALL from CXM's its like pulling teeth to get most of them to recover. Except the backstage manager they are the only one who does anything in my store. My MBA isnt much help either.

Yeah, no way is that role going completely away. They do too much.

The only thing I could potentially see happening is it getting 'downgraded' to like an AST Captain sort of role and pawning of a couple duties to OOMs and CXMs simply so they no longer have to pay for an executive. But that's a long shot or maybe at tiny stores. I don't think that's actually going to happen anytime soon.

If MBA goes away my store would be lost. They depend on her too much.

Yes, pretty much same job and it's just called something else. I've worked for both Macy's and Bloomingdales.

Ummm...I just looked up management roles for Bloomingdales and they have a Manager of Service and Human Resource Administration. Responsibilities are very similar to MBA. Can someone from Bloomingdales confirm?
