If AIP discussions are scheduled by March 3, and payout is around March 10th, what day should a 2-week resignation letter be submitted in order to get the full bonus check without penalty?

The post on benefits termination is exactly correct. Know when your new benefits begin as you could easily be hanging without medical for a month (maybe two) if timed incorrectly. Yes, there is COBRA, and yes you can enroll in COBRA retroactively, but it’s worth understanding when things end and begin.
I resigned in early September and went to a competitor. I concur with the folks that said to do so after you get paid. If you have RSU’s vesting, make sure to tender after the March 15th vesting date (those things go poof once you’re “terminated” in the system).
To that last point, when I tendered my resignation, I expected my benefits to go away on the 15th of the month. I put in a two week notice but was shown the door that day due to leaving for a competitor. My official last date coincided with my two week notice period. Pay attention to that date, as your official last day will govern the last day of your benefits. If it falls between the first and 15th of the month, you lose your benefits on the 15th. If after the 15th, they go through the end of the month. Long winded answer to say don’t resign on the first day of the month.
Lastly, you will be paid for accrued, unused vacation. You will owe money if you have taken more vacation than what has accrued.

Another vote for once the check clears. Until you have it in your account I wouldn’t trust them to not try and keep it from you.
Agree with the simple answer; resign the day it hits your account. Hint from a manager: we expect that this time of year.
Sounds like a smarta** answer but it is the correct answer, when the money is deposited!
