Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel offshore Head count- Layoff will save cost.

China 12000
India 13000 + Plus 18000 on H1B in USA.

Intel total headcount 132K. That is 32% job reduction, that are not US citizens.

Since we need to focus on local manufacturing and the foundry. Us above to hire US citizens or extremely high talent.

Made up numbers OP, Intel's headcount numbers, which get reported in every earnings report, have never hit 132K unless Intel filed fraudulent reports. The reports that will be released on 1/30 will show the numbers after the impact of the layoffs announced last August. They will be at least 30K less then you claim.

The ones with skill sets that were needed left the company. All you have left are the ones that you imported here from other countries. You lost a lot of talented loyal workers.

"While it's true that offshore teams provide significant cost savings due to lower operational expenses, it's important to recognize that the return on investment (ROI) for lower-cost regions can be substantial. "

please apply that to 'upper' management and the board/'investors' who don't have the knowledge/ability of how to make a chip
i am thinking there is some serious cost savings there and an absolutely fantastic return on investment (ROI)

While it's true that offshore teams provide significant cost savings due to lower operational expenses, it's important to recognize that the return on investment (ROI) for lower-cost regions can be substantial. Many functions that are less dependent on close collaboration or local expertise, such as financial planning and certain operations roles, have already moved offshore where the cost-to-value ratio is favorable.

However, for roles that require hands-on involvement, deep local knowledge, or closer coordination with the US-based manufacturing and foundry efforts, it’s crucial to have talent on-site. Remote roles, particularly those that can be easily outsourced, face a higher risk of being offshored as a result of cost efficiency considerations.

Ultimately, the shift towards focusing on local, high-skill talent aligns with Intel’s strategic direction of investing in US-based manufacturing. Positions that remain remote, especially when they do not require on-site presence or specialized knowledge, may face increased pressure to move offshore given the significant cost differences.
