Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel had intentions to withdraw from Ireland.

I was just told that we are going to focus on US and Israeli Manufacturing, Ireland operations is going to be scaled back to 0 with a sale potential to another Semi.

Anyone hear more in this?

I'd doubt it, serious tax advantages and cost advantages to Ireland.

Makes sense. When a company is in trouble, it normally consolidates manufacturing operations to reduce costs. It is no different for a car company, a textile company or a semiconductor company.

Actually makes sense. Mothball Ireland fab and only run in Oregon. $$$$$ keeps being flushed down the toilets in Santa Clara. Can the local sewage treatment plant handle this anymore?
