Optum and other brands under UHG are planning major layoffs to replace US staff in every position possible in foreign countries such as India. Thousands of targets have been named as the offshore staff are already hired to replace them as soon as they are trained. They are hiring Management in Ireland (to avoid US taxes) to act as enforcers, bullying long time competent Management to leave in droves, many citing ethical and moral conflicts. Many will be terminated before bonuses are paid. Most through "Optum Global" that is a leech and stain on UHG with extreme double standards compared to US based employees. There is so much more to this story, basically a conspiracy against US workers, patients, providers and clients that have trusted UHG. Medical records and patient info is sent offshore by UHG every single day by the thousands or even millions. Those records contain everything about individuals including name, SS#, address, phone, diagnosis, treatmentals.. everything, to foreign workers in unsecure locations, mainly their family homes as Optum Global allows them to work from home without safeguards. Time for whistle blowers to standup and report to applicable media, agencies and politicians (that are not controlled by UHG lobbying money). This may be the last chance you get before you lose your jobs.. Do your "Life's Best Work", whistle blow.

Workers for at least the past 10-15 years. This is nothing new.
The feds know about this, and don't care. I personally reported it to my State Senator years ago. He didn't care.
Best part will be when all this offshoring plus AI (once the bubble pops) and they're stuck with no local staff. UHG is heading to be the next Enron or Lehman. They're the sacrificial lamb in waiting. They'll be blamed for the coming Healthcare/health insurance crash, bank on it.
My leadership said in staff meeting that offshoring goal is 70%. I think for now that applies to contractors but still unsettling.
Competent management? That’s a joke, Optum doesn’t hire competent management. The majority of US management barely can speak English as it is. They were so worried about diversity they spent years hiring minorities and unqualified people; so the photos looked like a good mixture. Instead of hiring knowledgeable experienced leadership that could actually manage a team and department.
If you just take a look back, you’ll note that the monthly layoffs have been happening for years; since at least 2018, all with the long term goal of offshoring. Done monthly to ensure the WARN Act does not apply.
This is all true. I work here and this project has been ongoing since last year. Almost all Director and above positions are aware and involved with the planning. Many of us have no choice but to comply or lose our careers that we have worked so hard to achieve. I was formerly proud to work for UHG but now that BlackRock investment group owns a major share in UHG stock, everything has changed. There is a clear direction to replace US staff with foreign workers despite incredible profits. Do your life's best work is an inside joke. We despise the direction our Executives are taking us.
We know offshoring is a thing but I think we need more proof than just saying this. It’s would be no surprise to me if it were true but big claims like mass layoffs need a little proof.
