Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

RTO announcements and remote workers

I'm seeing more and more posts concerning this. I've not seen anything so far with any validation.

Just lots of similar conjecture and then when anyone asks for specifics, there isn't any reply.

This makes me think is it all lies?

Or can more than one person substantiate a town hall or an email or meeting where news was actually shared?

Are any of the last ten posts and comments legitimate?

they would need to give people a few weeks to straighten out their lives with this news. People have to figure out day care, school drop offs and such to just all of sudden have to show up five days. I would expect at a minimum two weeks notice to figure it out which would mean we would need to know this week.

If Feb 3 is the announcement, that’s still over two weeks away. I have to imagine that to keep this from spreading and causing issues pre-announcement that this hasn’t been officially communicated to M level (Manager/Director) managers. Sure, maybe a VP gives a heads up to their trusted director, but I don’t expect any real info this soon, so I take most of the comments here with a major grain of salt.

I think the big question (one of them) is if this will be company wide or specific to your org. So far I’ve heard teams that support sales will get this news. I’ve seen ISG and CSG mentioned. But there are plenty of orgs outside of those three. Just because you were told it’s coming doesn’t mean it’s the same for other people (which is why I always ask: if you were told, please mention what org you are in). I don’t think we’ll ultimately know until the announcement on Feb 3 (though I’m sure there will be more substantiated info on here leading up to it).

It’s true. Return to office 5 days a week starting Q1. I found out last week.

Ugh, I wish it were not true believe me. This is going to affect many people I personally know. I always felt like it was coming, but hoped it wasn’t.

Don’t reject those other offers before Feb 3rd- Feb10th.

Sources say email 2/3 right after the year closes. In effect 2/10, gotta boost those numbers.

i might be wrong, but my guess is they can’t figure out what to do with remote employees in EMEA, so they can’t send a company-wide communication regards the remotes

My boss told me 5 day RTO is real, he got the info from our SVP. He wasn’t sure on the details for remote.

You won’t hear about it until the quarter rolls over. You don’t put more poison in the hive before you squeeze the last drops of the honey. My guess having seen this cycle before? The quarter will end. Layoffs will happen to boost the share price after the end of quarter call comes in light. The layoffs will be lighter to avoid severance payouts. Though there will be ALOT of PIPs this quarter. Then RTO announcements will come down a couple days before an all hands townhall, and will be more or less mentioned in a sentence and brushed over by JC. Juuuust before he bombards us with FY25 goals that there’s no way anyone will hit. It’s becoming painfully predictable like everything else here. So for now? We play Hurry Up and Wait.

During the executive strategy cascade, RTO was mentioned. People who were on the call and have a close understanding of it have confirmed it. Sharing more specifics could jeopardize job security. Remote policy remains unannounced. Info about remote is conjecture.

I love all these RTO-deniers.
They cant seem to read the room.
Dell is not innovative nor cerebral. Working at dell is a mind-hive. No free thought. Not coming into the office is bucking the mind-hive as far as JC and MD is concerned.
