The afterschool STEM program that’s been running for a few years now is such a phoney project for some people to feel good about themselves. They only recruit from very rich neighborhoods (watchung and Berkeley heights). Convenient that Watchung is where the CEO is from/lives. A couple of associates have inquired about this program since we have to be here for 9 hours now and we get the fake response “we’ll let you know if we ever expand” which is just their way of saying they don’t care about us normal people who can’t afford to live in Watchung or BH. This is for the soccer moms and nepo parents with cyber trucks and Au pairs and not hard workers who are forced to be here because no one else is hiring right now.
It’s disgusting how much they pat themselves on the back for this “achievement” yet don’t recognize how much harm they’re doing by giving yet another opportunity to these rich families rather than many who need it nearby (union, Newark, etc!). An opportunity they would have had anyway!!!!
Oh and don’t forget how they literally use this as a recruiting event. They’ve hired parents of students who have little to no experience (in advisor+ roles.. look them up) but hey! At least we hired someone through this pipeline so of course we will boast about it!!
