Broadcom, duh. It's in the tags from Charlie D's 100% confidence mumblings.

Intel owns over 200k patents.
Those alone are worth a lot and a good reason for someone to acquire intel.

Could be Musk, or one of the other pursuing AI dominance.

Intel has a large amount of datacenter space, would be an affordable way to gain production capacity and lots of real estate for more datacenters.

The buyers could sell off x86 development to the usual interested parties, and maybe sell some of the production capacity as well.

The company is going to be broken up, whether it is this rumored buyer or through spin offs.

Today is a mere taste of the value to be unlocked, although getting above $30 would likely end takeover speculation. But that is still a fair gain from here.

"Elon Musk was mentioned as a potential buyer behind the paywall of SemiAccurate."

Maybe private equity to carve it up and sell it on.

Stock manipulation isn’t out of the question , but Charlie is usually pretty straight up.

Just in case , I’ve sent in an offer of $100. Let’s see what happens :)

Has Intel completely admitted its failure, by waiting for any random company to rescue it?

Intel is in a pretty sad state if the only thing that pops the stock price is the potential of someone buying it to fix it. If this is true all the people on this site whining about Intel culture being eroded can forget about Intel culture it will be one of the first things thrown out. If purchased it won't be with the intent of business as usual. Expect a complete overhaul from end to end. I wouldn't be surprised if the new owners would think nothing of removing huge swaths of the employee base just to flush the old culture and dependence on established outdated processes.

Pray it is not Broadcom. It is death by 200k cuts.

Charlie Demerjian is a credible analyst and reporter. If he says he's seen internal messages, he has. And he does report things with an intent to move markets.
