Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Increases this year make me sick

The tool officially opened. 1.5% raises in US and around 7-8% in India. Lowest I have ever seen in US. RRP is roughly half what it was last year. Makes me sick looking at these numbers compared to the hard work everyone has done this year.

If you haven’t already, start looking for other jobs. This place is going down the drain.

Doing compensation for my team today. Super depressing. Top performers will still be well short of keeping up with inflation. Will be even more soul-crushing when time to share/discuss with them.

@fp+1jhtf8rjj You’re either on my team or the company culture breeds this exact situation throughout the company. Although in my team, it’s noticed when people are slacking. Although, lately having all these OGA contractors making rudimentary intern level mistakes sure does make everyone else look like a genius in comparison.

I cannot wait to get my review this year. Having to act.like I care what it says. I should get an Emmy for my performance. If I get a meets expectation I will be smiling joyfully on the inside since I didn't accomplish anything. I truly deserve a 2 but my area is almost like working for the union. The less you do, the more they seem to praise you. The expectations are so low because they are used to having to have people redo the same thing 30 times because they didn't bother asking any questions before jumping into work. When you have a team of doers but not one of them can actually create their own requirements beyond what is given, this is the result. So if I say, I am still in testing due to new requirements found in UAT, I am status quo...Not, oh I know exactly what they really need and do it the 1st time like I used to. I would feel bad but I quit caring when I saw that I was the only one doing anything extra and then being told about how wonderful so and so is, someone who I know for sure uses a mouse giggler and spends the day getting baked and playing video games.. I used to grind it out now I coast. I would find a new job but I am not really unhappy. I am more, just not interested in working hard for people who have such low expectations. Matching energy and expectations. Its good enough money since time is more important to me at this point in my life. When I want more money, I will just find another part time job that I can do at the same time like my other coworker does. Who knows, maybe I will get promoted like my boss did for doing nothing ?

I was hoping to make it 2 more years and then retire. HOWEVER, since I keep getting more responsibilities but also keep losing ground to inflation, I've decided that's it. I am extreme quiet quitting! It will be such a joy seeing how far I can take it before they fire me. Right now I'm the person that gets things done so it will take a while before they realize I'm the person they should get rid of. I feel so liberated now that I've decided this. I think anyone that can should do the same. Even if you are not ready to retire like me, maybe you get an external job and just don't quit this one...make them fire you instead! Sweet revenge!

That long post was mine, before you flame me consider is it stealing if it’s already stolen? Optum stole from me because I stood up to a weak sr mgr who had an outsized ego and didn’t know what he was doing while learning on the job. That was my big sin!

California derangement syndrome kept my weak management from promoting me even after getting all 5’s one year. I was always above average and got 4’s most years. But without a promotion I was at the top of my salary grade range and so that 2% was reduced to 1 and a couple of years .5%. So I stopped giving af and started working 30hrs or less a week because I was good enough to get my work done. I would guess it took them 3-4yrs to catch on then they black balled me and I was laid off, weird severance arrangement, but I got even! So fack them and get even because mgmt is so top heavy they don’t notice except for the spyware on your company laptop, so figure that out while you plan your exit on your schedule!

With all due respect, many have lost their jobs and are getting zero at the moment. Congratulations on having your job AND getting a bonus (any) and raise (any). Some of us don't have that luxury.

Agree, the merits are just terrible for our team. 4s are being listed as 2% before hitting alerts for overages. So you will likely get less than that. I will say the RRPs look better than last year at first glance. This is just for our department not reflective of everyone either higher or lower.
