Anyone who thinks this is a legal problem hasn't a clue, look at Amazon and jp Morgan doing it. In Ireland which is a country with some protection the company can change your remote status just by giving 4 weeks notice

Texas (and almost all states) are at-will. There is no employment contract. So, while this might role out differently in other countries; employers can terminate employees in the U.S. for just about any reason with no notice required.

You cannot force employees to relocate or face termination. This is especially true if the employee was hired as remote or had their remote office closed. Its a breach of employment contract and grounds for a constructive dismissal lawsuit.

How would it be a legal issue ? Dell can enforce RTO for everyone no problem, how do you think Amazon can do it

Fake news as this would be completely illegal. They would be opening themselves to a massive class action especially in areas where they closed office or have offices that people are not allowed to bage into.

This needs to be repeated.

I love all these RTO-deniers.
They cant seem to read the room.
Dell is not innovative nor cerebral. Working at dell is a mind-hive. No free thought. Not coming into the office is bucking the mind-hive as far as JC and MD is concerned.

At first I thought there is no way they could do 5 days rto cause they literally sold all the office space. But then I realised I was silly to think logistics would actually stop them.

I heard this same message today from VP. Email coming. I was told that they don't know "all the details yet", but MD & JC decided RTO 5 days.

6 months is possible but no way is it true that they will give one weeks notice like other posters have suggested

Hybrid will get one week to go from 3 days to 5 but remote will obviously get longer

"until end of calendar year to relocate"

Highly unlikely. It will be shorter. They don't want to give people 10 months runway to job hunt. You will probably have 6 months to relocate.

Pretty much. I’m both suprised and unsurprised it’s taken them this long to lay the gauntlet down on it. That said I’m already in office and hope to get a layoff and a severance. Ready for something new.
