I’ve been lurking these threads for a while and I’m worried about getting laid off before or early on from my start date and getting sc--wed in this job market

No. Grad program is safest. You’ll be appointed a role in another function if the team you’re in is impacted.
You should have a escape plan now. This is a temporary sinking boat for all of us. Once a company has been infiltrated by DEI types and Indians, it's time to do whatever you gotta do to dismantle the company from within (quiet quitting, undermining their authority, ignoring RTO). Be creative, use GenAI for whatever nasty tactic you can pull where you can be out of here with the most money on your pocket. That's certainly how they play when calculating our compensation, allowances and partially paid benefits. This is the most useful advice you will get here.
Yes and without emotion hit the leetcode
Great positive mindset!
..."devotees, exposed by a lack of skills"... Think twice before judging people without knowing the Facts! People are UNIQUE and each individual brings different soft and hard skills. The ones that "survived" is because they are being protected and favoritism. We ARE ALL Replaceable :)
Lots of downvotes by salty people. The reason why they're crying now is because they got exposed for the lack of skills they had / impact they made. Personally if I were laid off I'd just hop over to another company instead of grumbling on this site.
Layoffs are Not Over, cost restructuring is ongoing...Nothing is permanent. I try not to leave any personal belongings wherever I sit. One day you are In and another day you are Out. Have fun :)
Unless an org was completely eliminated, very few new grad roles were eliminated in the layoffs. Most were senior director to SVP in my org.
No, not unless you have a better offer. Visa is very profitable and they wanted to restructure. Most believe the layoffs are over. The various January dates getting tossed around are most likely tied to employees who have already been informed that it will be their last day. Visa is clearing out positions that they see less value in and hiring more dev roles.
I completely disagree with some of the layoffs and how they were handled at a leadership level but it's still a great job in a poor market. I wouldn't sweat it. The people who trash Visa here aren't always wrong but they are always mad.
