Especially considering the current state of the job market. Not to mention the fact that performance is no longer a determining factor in layoffs, either here or at other companies. I've seen talented individuals let go time and again simply because they were expensive, only to be replaced by cheap labor, whether from recent graduates or offshoring. What an arrogant and poor leadership.
