Thread regarding Jo-Ann Stores Inc. layoffs

Potential layoff letter sent to SSC employees ("WARN Act")

Corporate sent a FedEx Overnight to all employees telling them the company is in trouble and if they can't find a buyer by March 15, all employees are potentially going to be let go and the SSC closed.

March 15 isn't an important date specifically, it's just exactly 60 days from today. This starts the clock on the WARN Act (law mandating notice for mass layoffs). That means that any layoff between now and March 15 would only require them to pay through March 15, instead of through 60 days from the date of the layoff, because they've provided notice.

Well, they still get paid until mid-March, but they all know what will happen to them, so they are getting ahead of the job hunting process.
