Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Karoshi Culture is Real at Canon

The Japanese are notorious for sending employees to their graves early, quite literally.

Employees are not valued whatsoever. You are only a widget to enrich Kobayashi and his cronies. You must be willing to march in line, regurgitate the Kool Aid, and never, and I mean never, question authority.

The Japanese do not believe in democracy. Employees shall have no say in their work arrangements. Even if they do an anonymous feedback survey, the results will be thrown straight into the trash.

You must put your own needs aside for the good of the company. This is actually stated in the company values section of the online self-evaluation Oracle site, I’m not being sarcastic, they really believe this nonsense.

No company is more important than myself. I am the CEO of my own life. I will not obey and kowtow to this nonsense.

My recommendation would be to stop working hard. Let the company fail. The sooner the company goes out of business, the sooner we can move on to bigger and better opportunities.

To the comment of sales managers and directors feeling the pain. What pain? They make more money, they keep their jobs, and they are clueless how their reps even enter a CPQ order. Don’t get me started on the micromanagement disguised as enablement - looking at you Highspot.

Laid off in July and it was a blessing. I was miserable at Canon. On a much better career path now. Good luck to yall there. Don't wait to move on, get out of there asap!

Have to say thanks to Canon for teaching me to put myself first and what a toxic workplace is. Never again.

Did everyone get their new 2025 quota? Safe to say this company either wants you to leave or they just expect people to make less money.

I agree with the message above.

On days you go to the office show your face and go back home. On your WFH days fill your calendar up and then go back to bed.

Work just as hard for this company as they have worked for you. Trust me sales managers and directors are feeling the pain. You will eventually see sales managers not caring anymore as they now have quotas they feel can not be attained.

My advice is to price everything with profit so you make money if Canon makes money. If you lose it then who cares. Use the next couple months to figure out where you can go and leave this company high and dry. This place has no future.
