14 YOE. 20% before the match for the first 10 years, then 16% for the last 4. Usually max out the direct tax advantaged contribution by the middle of the year now and then do the in-plan conversion of after tax to Roth for everything left over. These days I also save roughly another 20% in a brokerage account since I'm probably going to get replaced by a someone at a low cost tech center well before I hit actual retirement age.

I’ve historically done 10% + company match, but I’m about to max + back door it. I wish I had maxed out from day one but I can’t make up for the lost years. I can however course correct now and (hopefully) for the next 10 or so years 🤷

I max out the pre-tax limit (which for my salary is 8-9%). Post-tax I want better options than our 401k has available.

With what exxon pays you should be able to max out the pre tax contribution. Make this a priority in your spending.
