Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

Time to leave Cargill behind

The last big round of layoffs, as well as the silent ones apparently happening since, have taught me a lesson. This isn’t the company I started working for years ago, which used to at least somewhat value its employees. It caught the worst corporate bug in the meantime - it became all about short term profits, cruel consultants, and without any concern for human capital. Some of my former colleagues found good jobs, and I’m seriously considering leaving. All we can expect in the future is the accelerated trend of what we’ve witnessed for the past year or so.

Cargill isn’t getting rid of valuable jobs. They can’t run without production employees, maintenance, electricians and boiler/refrigeration operators. They can cut supervisor jobs and still be fine. There’s too many chiefs and not enough Indians. As long as you’re not in management your job is probably safe. That being said, Cargill is and always has been kind of a dump to work for. If you have the right job it’s fine but still kinda meh. I always look for different places to work. But these layoffs are no reason for the average Cargill employee to be scared into leaving. Only if you are management. There’s a lot of ridiculous made up supervisor jobs people get just for kissing butt. Cargill is just trimming the fat. No reason to be scared.

Amen to all this as I’m applying for anything and everything too. Hopefully it will pick up end of January. No one trusts Cargill their reputation is in ruins. The way they treat people and make you feel disposable is disgusting. I’d love to know how they measure success this quarter All made up BS no one doing anything useful in my team
