Remote process engineers in Bangalore

How does this even work?
I saw a LinkedIn post that someone in Bangalore was hired for that. How does this even work? Does anyone have to deal with such an arrangement?

It doesn't matter. At the end of the day you'll be working at GF and unhappy.

Does Malta have enough talented engineers to support night and weekend shift? How many of your engineers have you seen going into the fab? How many of them have you seen leaving at 4pm and looking at their phone only in the morning during passdown? GF still has some engineers who are dedicated but they can only do so much and they are burnt out. I know I struggled to get my mentor to take me to the fab and show me things about the tool. I know I personally had to delay my projects because there was no support round the clock because the process technicians are also overworked. No one in the area is even remotely trained to be a PT or PE, good PTs that we have who have over 2 years of experience are a god sent gift because retention is so low.

I personally left GF because Malta has nothing around for young engineers and is always gloomy except the 3 months of beautiful summer. GF is not rich enough to pay TSMC money to retain or hire new or experienced engineers.

I understand you might not be able to see them, but with the advancement of internet, one can always train someone, I know as a former PE I would have appreciated all the help I could have gotten.

Welcome to the party pal. This has been the prime directive tasked to a senior director. Have never met 3/4 of my team because I have medical condition that prevents me from flying.

You are just finding out about this now? They have been pretty open about the plan and bragging about the savings.
