Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Tuesday is upon us. Any news?

I heard expect an announcement on Tues 14 Jan then an SLL only meeting Wed followed by an all hands call Thursday with Emeka. Hoping we hear something solid about the org they know all the boxes including locations question is how much will they share?

US was told 941 technology people in US total and roughly 270 were out of scope. They said 650 in scope but the numbers say 671 in scope. The breakdown was 600 digital core, 200 applied science and 100 'other'. They also said exits would START in August I thought previously it was July. Question unanswered was how are they going to ramp up in the business centers that is a LOT of people to hire. I did notice there were 45ish technology postings in Pune in December and one job title and requirements were scary similar to mine. Title wasn't exact same but VERY close. Going to definitely watch bp.com for the postings from now on.

"There are 17000 staff in tech, of which 20% are BP staff. So we’re talking about ~3500 BP badged staff in technology"

3500 minus all those who are exempt - Digital security, S&OR, ISC and everyone in India, KL and Budapest (which would be 1000+). Taking all that out then 1100 is effectively a 50% reduction in US and UK headcount

Digital alone is 3000+ bp badged people
Technology is likely 5000+ people

So let's do the math 3,500 IT employees minus those ringed fenced - already in low cost areas, new graduates and apprentices, crisis management people and from what is left 1100 will leave. On the surface it looks like 30% but it might actually be 50. It's going to be rough.

1100 bp jobs will be impacted across technology in the US and the UK. We have ~3500 bp tech staff across the world.

It doesn’t look great…

It isn't just Technology, its across the org.

Big changes slated for BP Solutions it seems, starting with the TAR / Outages group with a follow up from Site Projects will be round 2 after May.

Personally, I think the TAR / Outages group is really heavy with all the DL roles as well as "scope optimization" and other random positions.

I've worked many places where we operated allot leaner in our site projects and turnaround organizations.

Not sure why bp decided to be so complex.

Is Technology the only group getting slashed?
