i rmb interviewing for visa a few years ago and asked my interviewer what he thought about the company. he said it's a great place and he loved the culture here. i could feel that genuity when he said that and it stirred something in me, having been in a few places where the company was very blatant about maximizing profits from overworking employees (think tech consulting firms).
fast forward to now, while everyone still acts happy at work, small little moments cracked as jokes or passing comments during conversations, even by the managers, reveal the truth about the morale for most of us here. we've become disillusioned by how visa treats us despite its growth, which mgmt comes up with multiple excuses about being prudent, yet paying out ryan and rajat top bonuses.
after each release, a big congratulations email is send out followed by "restructuring" email where ryan/rajat invites us to thank those who have contributed to visa and are leaving. "please join me in wishing them the best in their endeavours and we will fully support them", said the pirate who made them walk the plank.
we may still be functioning as a company but believe me the goodwill of stakeholders here have been extolled and stomped to the ground. c suite is betting that they can do this w/o an exodus of the employees, given the job market.
that's fine but i'm not going to stay in a place that disrespects its employees or thinks genai can eventually replace my skills.
i cant speak for everyone but if visa was something i used to be proud to work for, it's just a transactional relationship now.
i love my colleagues but i will be leaving once i find another place. all the best to the rest
