Updates no leggings no jeans with rips no athletic sneakers no uggs or ugg like shoes. No tank tops anymore. No logos no graphic tees. No boots at all. No logo even if we sell it. Our AC is broken most the time so this dress code su-ks. And no boots for winter su-ks. Be prepared they will be changing soon again because they say customers are saying we look like we work at Walmart. Also lots of lay offs for call out on weekend or being late once or twice.
Does no one have a pdf or something?
No more denim fashion logos or any logos of any kind. No graphic tees, no hoodies or sweatshirts. No leggings or leggings pants. I loved my leggings in the winter. Can't wear clothes brands we don't sell
Dress code rarely is unforced in our store. I’ll be amazed to see if a new one is. Also, we were told in a meeting that the days for ISM were numbered. They just didn’t say what number & it was very hush hush.
I highly doubt visible tats, piercings, and dyed hair are going to be banned. I also doubt we're going back to all black.
There's no worse way to sell clothes than to make the employees look like they work in a funeral home.
DEI is going away.
No more tattoos or piercings? Well I guess that will eliminate a good chunk of colleagues and managers and myself as a Director never had a problem and have been with this company for 20 yrs.
Colleagues wearing all black in our store especially in summer is brutal. Every summer year the A/C unit in our store is not working or is broken. South Texas weather is over 100° degrees and our store feels like and smells like a sweat 💦 shop. It happens every summer and it's tough working with no A\C and people are complaining about it. Wearing all black again is just going to feel uncomfortable.
Years ago, when the dress-code was relaxed and employees were first able to wear colored clothing to work, it was obvious to me that the change was made to drive sales. Sales of clothing to employees!!! How many times have we heard that "we" are Macy's best customers. I mean, how many pieces of black clothing does an individual need in order to have something to wear to work. Hence, loosen the dress code and make the store numbers through the workers. For really old-timers, you may remember when One Day Sales were first introduced. They were held mid-week on Wednesdays. Why? Because back then, that was payday for employees.
No more tattoos, visible piercings, and unnatural hair color.
I hope they bring back the black dress code!
Never should have gotten rid of the all black
Part of the new culture change will be elevating dress code as part of improving the customer experience. If you are a long time employee and still have a closet full of old work dress clothes, you will be ready to go. Get ready for 2025, it looks like it will be a wild ride. The closing store announcements are just the start, better strap in. Retail is never boring.
A revised dress code is a great idea...even going back to all black. The customers would be able to tell the difference between the the colleagues and the shoppers. I t would also eliminate the gray zone. What is appropriate vs. what is not. Some of the colleagues look like they "walk the streets or work the pole."
I'm BOH and if they want to supply me with a uniform....great. I don't have to find cheap clothes to ruin.
They must plan to drive sales by making employees buy new wardrobes. Again.
What about those awful pi-ple patches these young associates are wearing?
short denim miniskirts for all. That will bring more traffic.
About time, it’s time to back to looking professional! And ISM needs to go away, it’s useless!
Is "ISM" going away too? 🤔
My store manager told us own your style is going away and there will be a new dress code soon.
If in stores, where'd you hear this?
