Hey guys, please advice, is it better to move on from intel or stay with it since it looks like major hurdles are over and company in the path to recover? In this case, one who stayed will get opportunity to step up and grow.

If you have to ask…
Let’s just say you belong at Intel.
Stick with Intel please. I’d appreciate less competition while I make a break for it.
If you're over 50, run! Intel will find a reason to let you go as you get older. There was another thread on ageism. The longer you wait the harder it will be to land something somewhere else.
How about something in between? Apply for roles that you think you would like to do in all earnest. It will give you a better idea about what is out there, what employers are expecting, build new networks, and get you ready for interviews just in case you're CPM'd. I'd say that's a can't lose exercise. You may find something you can get really excited about. Or, you may find Intel suits you just fine. Either way you're still working and no waiting for Intel to boot you out the door. Even if you don't get a new role externally, that same employer may come back and offer you a different role.
If you’re under 50, RUN.
Yes. If lucky you can aspire to be AMD some day
Are you in foundary or design ? If in design and work on cpu, server or may be graphics then in general you should be ok if your manager values your work. If this is not the case then look outside, if in foundary then can’t speak much as I’m from design side. Note AMD was worth 5$ at one time but you can see now where it is , same cycle Intel has to go through but yif you can survive layoffs etc then rewards could be huge when Intel recovers, also there is lot of cr-p about Indians I’m seeing here but they are not realizing that Apple , Nvidia , AMD has lots of Indian folks and they are all doing great ..
It depends on your group. If your group is working on projects that customers want, I’d stay, if the pay is good. At least at Intel, 70 hr work weeks are usually not normal.
If you are getting paid well and are important to your team well why leave ? Outside of a few companies noone is paying tech well till the H1b situation is handled.
Intel is dead.
Whats the question?
More layoffs this year 2025
So run!
It all depends on you. Will Intel recover and become a dominant company again? Unlikely. But that doesn't matter, not everyone needs to work for the top company. The question for you is: are you ok working for a company that will likely remain a shell of what it was? Are you ok dealing with more layoffs? (There will be a lot more, that's clear). If you stay, you'll see many of your colleagues leaving, the selling of buildings and sites, etc Are you ok with that? Do you want to build your career and grow in that type of environment or in some other company that is growing?
If you want advance your career or if one day you ever or planned for yourself to leave Intel get out now. As we all know (but some are having a hard time admitting) Intel is the definition of a sinking ship. Intel’s current trajectory and fate is the same as that of global foundries. We can just look to them to crystal ball see our future. So having said that and if you always intended to leave and remain in the semiconductor industry; it is wisest to get out sooner then later. The value of having Intel on your resume is exponentially dropping. It is no longer prestigious. As many of the ISP are finding out now.
Depends on your salary level. If you are happy where you are, it might be hard now to match the level elsewhere. Trust me, i've been looking for a while.
Leave Intel. It has so many Indians around, it is not an American company anymore. Everyday it is like working in Indian. Do not devote yourself to build an Indian company, you are bullied.
The brain drain from the layoffs that finished in Nov have yet to be fully felt. This is the second time in less than a decade that Intel has lost over 10K of its most skilled and experienced workers in a matter of weeks. The impact of 2016 was huge and was felt for years after, the impact of 2024 could be even worse.
Here is an exercise for you, write down Intel's 10 greatest accomplishments that put them ahead of the rest of the industry. Now put dates of when they were accomplished. How many were in this century?
@aq... AZ isn't TSMCs only US site, it is the largest. They have had a site in Camas, Wa. They always build them close to Intel sites so they can poach talent.
The only thing that is irreplaceable in US is the Intel fab not considering TSMC AZ. Do you feel comfortable to let Intel run the fab and be able to compete with TSMC?
I am sticking to Intel. Not much, just $100k.
Why I think Intel might be a long good shot:
- GPU starting to show off; In 2-3 year time we might see a real comeback in GPU market.
- If to believe 18A is healthy. So Intel will have in-house made chips. Ergo Margins should grow. If the 18A will not work, then split, selling fab and with IPs they should go up 100-200%.
- CEO - if they can make some semiconductor CEO with vision, stock should grow. They are not pumped as AMD or NVIDIA are.
- As Preacher is gone, I believe they reinstate dividends. Bunch of mo--ns sitting in ETL. They want money. It should boost stock.
- People smashing that AMD is „superior” in games. But in workloads core ultra wins. Video editing? Core ultra. I agree that AMD wins gaming market, but Intel wins in corporations.
- Tarrifs by Trump. Amd will lose margins even more.
- trading below the books
I think Intel will drop a bit to $17 level, but they will start rebuilding at Q2
where are you going to go
