Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

Laid off Today

After the December waive, management had said the layoffs were over. Nope. Got back after the winter holidays, started going through my emails and right up top was a 30 minute email title "Business Update" from HR.

Had to sit there and listen to an HR rep try to relate to our situation.

They laid off 4 of the best performers with seniority (clearly the ones making more). The individuals that did doing nothing all day, still have jobs.
All the long hours, working through Covid, working weekends, covering shifts. None of that mattered.

Always remember that.

These corporations will talk about loyalty and hard work and "people" first. But it doesn't matter. You are just a number. The Cargill family wants new McLarens.

Sorry to hear about the layoff. I did 15 years with protein and salt. You'll be better off in the long run. Lol I knew it was heading to a bad place when I kept getting invites to the DEI clubs on the Cargill social website. Some of these had the full support of people in Versailles. I sat in on some of the zoom calls for this drivel. I've never witnessed anything more ignorant and silly in all my life.

We all know that our beef is being sold overseas and you guys are getting sc--wed. Tell Trump to ban UF beef exports and see how fast our beef industry grow after that we know you’re getting sc--wed. And big business does not give a sh-t about their employees.

This has to be Cleveland. They had that death and then layoffs. From the rumors I have heard, some of of these people have a potential lawsuit.

They had a death at the Cleveland salt site. Cargill waited until legal cleared them to commence with layoffs, after the brief period of emotional trauma/grief had ended. This past week, I know they they laid off a couple of the senior engineers out there. Long time employees that became too expensive.

I worked for Cargill for 38 years. I gave them my best and sacrificing the family get together, holidays, and working 7 days a week sometimes 16 hrs a day keeping my plant running and at all odds taking care of the customers like they was mine. Blood sweat, and tears they was like my second family. Something changed all of the sudden I couldn't do anything right now matter what. I had to retire at 57 all they did was give me a piece of cake and slammed the door behind me. This company is not a great decision to start your career.

New normal. Layoffs will never be "over". The new strategy these companies all follow is continuously cutting small groups at a time.

What enterprise/region? Obviously don't want to identify the OP with too much detail, but would help others if we knew a little more. Best of luck finding something new!

This is exactly why I thought it was the silliest thing for Cargill to emphasize being a ‘family company’ in its brand refresh. We are not a family. Stop pretending you care about people. It is a job and we stay together only when it is mutually beneficial. Right now it is not beneficial for any high performers to stick around. Much better cultures and growth opportunities elsewhere.

Sorry to hear but the organization gets rid of expensive ones that was clear when the layoff in IT started in summer last year. It was so obvious that they continue till they reach their financial targets.

Why do you think AT&T is in the hole? Because they keep who they shouldn't.
