Nov 30? Am I reading that right? So about 45 days of benefits? Someone lmk if they’re also feeling like the specifics — and also $$ numbers are flakey in that document. JFC

I hired a lawyer that specializes in these sorts of things in the tech industry, cost me $500
- agreement is generous (best he had ever seen)
- terms are reasonable from the employee perspective (again best he had seen)
he had no concerns and told me to sign it
YMMV
I'm waving my rights and taking the severance but man something is very fishy about this anti-lawyer guy. The average employee wouldn't care so much about whether someone takes a lawyer or not.
Please cite the legal grounds for thinking that you are owed anything apart from the severance agreement. Oh, by the way: when the companies merged, they could have stipulatec that existing severance agreements would be ripped up. They didn't. But keep posting and pretending that you know something. It's amusing! Let us know how it goes with the lawyer! It will be a short meeting.
Somewhere there is a lawyer for the cloud software group who is posting multiple times about NOT getting a lawyer and how the company owes you nothing.
No wonder some of you guys got laid off, you’re id--ts who don’t live in reality. Good riddance…. Probably worked 5 hours a week and didn’t get promoted in 5 years.
Courtesy evaluation, if they don’t win there is no fee.
These are the people who I'd be happy to see laid off. They are completely useless, and really stupid.
Everyone telling the honest truth are being downvoted. You people are hysterical. No wonder this site is useless.
You are so entitled and spoiled. Welcome to corporate America! I guess it's been a while since you worked in it. I cannot wait to see all the "I am hiring a lawyer" when your next company does the EXACT SAME thing.
Attorneys do not work on commission. If you go to one to have them review your severance paperwork, you'll get billed for the time.
Hire all the attorneys you want. You'll get nowhere. You're not entitled to anything.
Attorney works on commission, they will make it right.
Uh, it DOES hurt. One, you pay the attorney. Two, if the attorney wants to try and make a buck and wants to do something, the company will then cease all payments while the issue is "pending." What horrible advice. Severance is not a birthright. God, people are stupid.
Never hurts to have an attorney look at it.
What an id--tic comment. Good luck with "lawyering up", lol. Enjoy your ZERO severance package...
Legal advice? Are you people serious? You are employees at will. Technically speaking, they don't owe you jack sh%t in this country. If they want to fire you for no reason, they are legally allowed to do so. No company would ever do that because of the blowback they would receive for it, but they can if they chose to.
Suing the company will cost YOU a lot more than it will cost them. And you will ultimately end up losing the case. The only legal leg you have to stand on is discrimination. But that is difficult to prove, especially in this economy. No judge is going to side with you when EVERY company is doing layoffs right now.
I would re-focus that energy into finding a new role at another company if you were impacted. That is the best thing you can do for yourself.
What legal advice? The company owes you NOTHING apart from what is in the severance agreement. They don't even have to have a severance policy. You're going to go pay a lawyer to do what, exactly? Negotiate? LOL. Good luck negotiating with Vista. Those guys have a stable of lawyers.
Lawyer thing goes nowhere, I was laid off last year before the announcement and have a solid lawyer in my back pocket. They said there’s not much you can do and if you don’t sign agreement in time you get nothing
Always ALWAYS consult a lawyer if you've been laid off. Only suckers take the deal the company gives you. You owe it to yourself to seek legal advice. Even in states with right to work laws.
What didn't you understand? It's clear as mud. It benefits them.
I sent HR an email with several questions because I couldn't understand their legalese
