Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Any suggestions on places to apply?

I've reached my breaking point with this company.

I've been on this team for two years and busted my tail through all the issues, through the CHC nonsense (which isn't my job, I helped to try and look good for a promotion), finished my masters, and earned 3 certs. Spoke to my manager today and what to probably expect in terms of compensation (was hoping for a pay grade bump because I finished higher ed & hauled a-s all year) and was told the word is likely very little money is being given again. So I bust my tail for two years and will probably get another 2% raise and laughable bonus... why stay?

Why stay when I bust my tail and half of my workday is spent babysitting the offshore people who are completely clueless. So happy we could hire two offshore people that are clueless at their jobs and do nothing but make problems for the on-shore employees who have to clean up their mess. Also, it's really annoying when I basically have to beg offshore people to jump in a meeting to help teach them and in the meeting they'll have side conversations in telugu or hindi... I'm tired man.

Before anyone cries, no this has nothing to do with race/etc. I don't care if you're purple man just do your work right and communicate with me. Want to speak your language in your own meeting? Sure. Don't care. But when you're in a meeting where someone is trying to catch you up to speed, be respectful.

All that being said, anyone know of any companies that might not treat me like disposable garbage? Or maybe even just a company that doesn't offshore jobs so I can work with people on the same half of the world as me...

Noted. This is from the original poster.

  1. I'm not trying to get a top-level promotion. I'm trying to get from pay grade 26 to 27. Just thought that I deserved a bit more than "associate" at this point. I guess I just have a wrong perception of corporate culture.
  2. I plan on leaving the moment I get my masters. I'll just job hop like anyone only chasing money.

So your a-s kissing didn’t get you to a top level position after two years? lol get over it. You have your masters so get out there and put it to work for you.

I’m sorry, but you are trying to get “bragging rights” on being at Optum for two years and feel that it’s now time for you to be promoted? That’s laughable. There are people who have been there way longer than you who have not gotten a promotion.

Degrees and certs are for getting hired at the next company
They do nothing internally.

Get a better offer. Tell them you are considering it. See if you get a counter. That will tell you how valuable you are. Then take the other offer.

Ha Ha oh a whole two years wow what a lifetime. You know nothing about Optum culture. Pay grade bumps / promotions are not solicited here they are gifted to the chosen few. Certifications mean nothing wasted time there. Now you are a threat to your manager no soup for you. Merit bonus and promos for 2026 have already been decided in the popularity contest. As far as offshore if they are not interested and dont show initiative terminate the call. Make them chase you

Yeah, worked there for 19 years, had a great, record breaking Open Enrollment season and was laid off 3 weeks later. 2 years really ain't nothing.

I'd look at competitors in your field of specialty, but also look at branching out with your skill set, and changing industry or even career path. Happy hunting and good luck.

They promised the CRS team year round work, and now we have NO work, we WANT TO WORK!! The merge between the 2 companies reassured us that we would have year round work in June, and we have yet to get optum system programs. I just want to earn a living. I am not giving up on Optum and hope they get things together soon.

Need to leave healthcare. Leadership in this domain only has one trick … doesn’t matter the company.
