With the recent layoffs, and the job market the way it is with tech, I wanted to provide some advice to help anyone affected bridge the gap (which as many have pointed out, may turn out to be upwards of 1 year or more).
There are high income funds out there which return dividends of between 6%-12% a year, and they pay these dividends on a monthly basis (JEPI, JEPQ, SPYI, DIVO, etc.). If you have a good chunk of money saved, you can invest in these funds and get monthly income to help you pay the bills without drawing down the principal.
Right now, I am earning $45k a year in dividends off of around $380k invested (~$3750 a month). The $45k a year is much less than what we were making at Citrix, but it at least can be used to pay the rent/mortgage/some food without drawing down the principal. $45k is much better than $0.
Anyway just a thought. Also, don't take my word for it, read the prospectuses for yourself (JEPI, JEPQ, SPYI, DIVO, etc.).
