Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why Intel Is Poised To Thrive As 'King Of The Fabs' Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions

  • Rising U.S.-China tensions and the potential for a Taiwan conflict will boost the onshoring of chip manufacturing in the U.S. and Europe.
  • Chips that power tech in general and the AI revolution, in particular, make avoiding supply chain disruption a strategic issue.
  • Intel's US/Europe-based fabs make it a key player for a de-globalizing semiconductor industry.

China won’t invade Taiwan until they’re posed to reap the benefits from destroying TSMC. They may not have EUV but they have fabs.

They wouldn’t do this to help Intel.

It’s like the posters who told me the building closure means layoffs and replacement by AI not WFH

It’s pretty obvious in hindsight

It’s amazing what gets deleted on this site. It is clearly violating free speech rights. Nothing offensive or derogatory was written. I guess a complaint to the FCC is warranted.

In case you haven’t noticed, nobody wants what Intel is currently selling with the help of TSMC. What make you think America would be better off if we figure out how to do it here?

If your prediction of geopolitical conflicts comes true it will likely be accompanied by a collapse in demand. Consumers, both commercial and individual, will go into survival mode. Spending for nonessential items will drop to zero. Being the only foundry won’t really matter.

Correction: America needs chips for Cars Trucks, Appliances, and Phones. Last I’ve seen Intel does NOT make the chips we need. There are plenty of American fab options who already produce usable chips in the PC/data center area. So….. Good luck with that.
