Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

How picky are you?

Given that there are many tech layoffs everywhere, the competition on the job market is huge because many people apply for one position, and with all that, the end of the year is not the best time to look for a new job - - I am thinking about lowering the criteria a bit and accepting even and a lower paid job in another company. Maybe it's not a good idea, but it's better than being jobless while looking for a new job.

I was getting interviews the same week I applied for roles outside the company. This was a couple months back. Most interview processes we’re taking at least 2-3 weeks and I had an offer within a month. I have heard from a few folks who left after me that hiring is slowing down a little - to be expected in Q4 the closer we get to holidays. One also said that two potential employers told him up front that start date for the roles were going to be after Jan 1 (new fiscal/calendar), which isn’t unheard of in Q4 either. Start interviewing now!

People who have found a new job after getting let go or leaving Citrix- how long did it take you?

This is extremely subjective to market. Florida during the end of year? Eh...

DC in federal contracting? Throw a rock and hit a tech job. They can't buy enough Citrix folks. Yes even you sales dudes would know enough.

According to the latest market data, so far tech layoffs have affected less than 1% of companies, but the media tends to make it seem more pervasive than it is in fact.

Every person's situation is a little different in this job market, but I'd still try to land a better job at a higher salary. Why? You may find that you were too hasty landing the next role, and it would have been better to continue your job search. So, be patient but persistant.

Don't lower your expectations. I took an 8 week break from a toxic work environment and found a better job, with better benefits, better workplace culture, and a >$40k bump. Believe in yourself and others will, too.
