If you have marketable skills, dignity and self-respect, then get out asap!
The layoff cycle will continue until all US function are moved to the cheaper cost center-- India. The longer you want to bail, the more difficult it will be to find a job, especially if you want to stay in San Diego. The writing has been on the wall for nearly 2 years. Take control of your career or the Qmachine will do it for you. Stark reality, but true.
@da nailed it! This holds true for any company, it is just more extreme at Qcom from my experience due to lack of innovation at this company, everything is a commodity here. If the company really needs your skill, the managers will actually treat you like a boss, I have seen both sides. I have dignity and self respect, that is why I always keep my skills sharp and quit when things start to get ugly.
What i meant is, you need a skill set that is "marketable" outside of QCOM. If you've just been resting and vesting at QCOM, then fear for your job.
One in Jan 9th and the other in March. They are exclusive.
CA said:” Large majority of Q jobs in America can be done much cheaper in India; that’s why we are moving these jobs there; that’s the Qualcomm Way; that way I can keep my multi million dollars compensation”
Qs products has nothing to do with skill. If q has anything to do with skill, there won’t be so many posts here to call the names.
Qs layoff has nothing to do with skill, jobs in q has nothing to do with skill.

its not always about skill set. I had ( and still do have ) in-demand skills yet I was let go because of 'restructuring'. What matters more in corporate, and increasingly more so in Qualcomm, is if you are ok using your tongue as shoe-polisher for your boss. There are many who love their dignity and self-respect and hence get impacted during job-cuts. But there are also many who will ping their bosses 50 times every minute, all day long, just to tell him how great he is. Those survive.
And another round of layoff in July to fund Christiano’s bonus as his AI story has paid off 🍾
For God's sake man (or women), assume there is a layoff at any given day of the year since you've accepted an at will employment. If your skill set is not marketable then fear for your job and livelihood.
