Dell's brilliant marketing: copy Apple

This company can't innovate anything these days. Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max? Couldn't come up with even a synonym? This reeks of desperation chasing Apple. What happened to this company?
Firing Allison Dew seems to have made marketing worse?!

It's like naming your dog Fido or Rover. No originality.

How about we get back to what we did 25 years ago?

Inspiron = home laptop
Dimension = home desktop
Optiplex = business desktop
Latitude = business laptop

It's all the same products under the skin and branding, but it was so much easier to understand where products slotted in our mix,. I never could understand destroying our product differentiation when we started selling Inspiron "desktops".

JC can't even make tshirts that fit him and don't look like cheap knockoff cr*p you buy from a Cancun street vendor.

No surprise we're just copying Apple.

Does seem like it is copying Apple. Biggest benefit is the consolidation of all the different brands. Streamline cost. Big part of what has driven layoffs is the consolidation of b-a ding. Each brand had a lot of duplicate teams.

This has been decided for over a year now. I had the naming conventions to review last January

Audience questions per Bloomberg (directed towards everyone's favorite executive, JC):

“I am wondering why you guys didn’t choose something original, because you essentially have Apple’s branding here,” one audience member quipped. Another said “your branding sounds a lot like Apple — aren’t you just following them?”
