Couple of reasons:
- India and all of the accelerated hiring that started in the final half of 2024. Also name a single company that mass hired in India and DIDN'T have layoffs later on? Don't think you can.
- No layoff in awhile when traditionally there were frequently, I think that they've been wanting to trim further but had to wait it out in fear of employee backlash due to frequency.
- Asking us to put in PTO for the remainder of the year back at the end of 2024. Said something about ensuring minimum staffing levels for the holidays but I feel like this was just to get a more accurate forecast on potential unused PTO payout.
- Small trimming happening silently (according to posts here), getting rid of EVERFI.
