What areas will be affected by 1/16/25 RIF?
Thursday January 16th RIF confirmed. Will not be delayed. Hang in there everyone.
There is no way that Optum is concerned about their reputation. All that optum and UHC care about is the bottom dollar. They keep trying to get the work performed by off shore staff. Some of the high management is located in Ireland and they are pushing for more staff off shore. They pay 50 cents on the dollar for off shore India staff, and they work them like dogs! Don’t get me wrong the off shore staff are extremely hard workers and very nice people. Why does the government allow the job to be sent off shore? Layoffs are coming to the US staff.
They might be more sensitive to publicity right now given its low state and any pending mergers and governmental responses (antitrust) to those mergers.
Might now be the best RIF time since it can't get much worse publicity wise? If they're going to do it, surely they'll do it before needing to pay out bonuses.
I think they are laying low for a bit on the layoffs. It will get leaked and then even more bad publicity for an already hated company.

I don't know about the exact 16th date, but I did hear from a director under UHC that the January RIF would not happen because there is too much scrutiny on the company right now, since Brian Thompson.
Does anyone have info as to why they'd cancel or postpone the 1/16/25 date?
The Jan 16 date is real. There are talks of postponing or canceling though..
